Subject: Could Humanity be the smartest sentients in the galaxy?

They are, but they don't know it yet 'cause they haven't quite reach their full potential.

Humans = Innovative
Elites = Imitative
We've already established humans are better than Elites.

Perhaps the Forerunners were restricted by a rigid culture stifling creativity and a zealous adherence to the Mantle.

Online Gaming's pretty much like a zombie movie. There are a lot of mindless idiots roaming around but you find some survivors on the way.

First of all where is your evidence that the humans were more powerful then the runners.

Human wankers

-_- Why did you think i put "arguably" in? Ye youre right i used it to spice up my vocabulary. And please, save yourself the humiliation and dont invent nicknames for the forerunners.

Which humiliation?

Why not? You have nothing to say, I call them what I want and you can not stop me from doing that.

You still failed to prove how the humans "more powerful" then the Runners.

They defeated the Flood completely while decimating the Forerunner who were a "superior" race at the same time.

1)They attacked Forerunner worlds and the Forerunners didn't even counter attacked till they had no choice to wipe those -blam!-s of the galaxy.

2)The flood that fought the Humans weren't even powerful as the latter ones.Because:
-There wasn't any gravemind yet
-The Forerunners enocuntered "higher forms" in other words far more powerful ones.

Had the Flood not been attacking simultaneously Humanity may have been able to comletely defeat the Forerunner. However, if the Flood had not been attacking then Humanity would not have been invading Forerunner space and there may not have been a war. But from with the new light that Cryptum shines on Forerunner mentality I'm sure they would have eventually found a reason.

Complete speculation.It's said that Human defenses were a little less advanced then the Forerunner ones,if they were more powerful then why were their defenses weaker?
20 meter large war sphinxes were destroying and throwing Human starships around like dolls.Ground troops beating space forces,hilarious.

But again the Human had lucky that they had defenses around the indestructible precursor artifacts and they were on the defense.Just like in the medieval when it was too difficult to conquer a fortress.

The Humans were far larger -blam!-s then the Forerunners.Why didn't they asked the Forerunners for help even if they were rivals,instead of that they just attacked the runners to steal their planets because of their lack of resources.Didact is right Humans in that time were selfish -blam!-s.

And from the man himself Greg Bear:

One hundred thousand years ago, the galaxy was populated by a great variety of beings.
But one species-eons beyond all the others in both technology and knowledge-achieved dominance.

Proves the Forerunners were the strongest and most advanced of the galaxy before the precursors.

The Forerunners were sophisticated above all other empires and powerful almost beyond measure.

More evidence

The Humans certainly weren't more powerful then Forerunners.

*sigh* You're still not getting it are you? I am in no way saying the humans are more powerful than the Forerunners. Im saying it is debatable that they could be more slightly advanced than them.

Also what your quoting is from a Forerunner point of view. Obviously they are going to big themselves up and make themselves look like they are the dominant species in the galaxy. If the book was from the humans point of view, they would be doing the exact same thing. Its almost like interviewing a number of candidates applying for a job. Each and every one of them will try to claim they themselves are the best.

And FYI I am not preventing you from inventing nicknames at all. Am i pointing a gun to your head and ordering you to not to? No. I am simply saying try to avoid it.

What is it Bornstellar says in Cryptum again? That his people are slow to anger? And that wars amongst his people are rare? That they are almost embarrassed by Prometheans like the Didact as they go against the core fundementals of the Mantle?

I'd imagine that would mean that there would not have been too much conflict in Forerunner history. We have to remember that although the Forerunners share some of our traits they are an alien species.

We, humanity, on the other hand, are a very aggressive species. Even when we were being destroyed by the Covenant we still did our damned best to destroy ourselves first. I don't think there has ever been a period of history longer than 50 years where a war hasn't broken out somewhere.

I can't imagine "Ancient Humanity" being too different. I'm only on chapter 12 of Cryptum so forgive me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that mean that our weaponry would be more advanced than a docile race's such as the Forerunner's? And so even though the Forerunners may have been more advanced with their genetic modifications and world-building, we would have still had better armament than they and more knowledge regarding the practice of war.

I don't think that it's clear-cut enough to say "The Forerunners were more advanced" or "Humanity was more advanced." We can say that when comparing two human civilisations because we're of the same race, but when two different species are involved I think the answer is a little more hazy.
