Would you prefer that the moderators should be more strict? For instance, you make a pointless thread or a thread that has been made before, you get a warning and then if you do it again, you get a short ban. Say, 3 days. If they continue, they get a larger ban then if they persist to do it they get perma banned. Also, they get this for flaming and for troll feeding.

I am in no way saying the moderators should change the way they deal with things. I just want to see the opinion of the people here.

I think the way they do it now is satisfactory.

There is no need for any change. They are not too strict, and they are not too lenient.

If the mods were more strict, zanzibar would be quite the ghost town. Not that that'd be a bad thing or anything, but I don't know how to finish this sentance.

The variety of styles tends to do the job at the moment. I think that posters of pointless threads and such are too often let off - but sticking to a set "offence ladder" isn't always appropriate. Maybe just a little tightening up in dealing with random spam would reap in better results.

I have to agree with Psyched on this one...in those cases, it could be a bit more strict, but currently we have a nice variety of mods- each with their own "level" of strictness. The mix of them tends to work out fine the way it is though.

Are the mods doing some thing wrong that I'm not seeing? I see all these threads about finding more things to do or to try and make them do better, when they are all doing a great job as it is. Constricting them to a certain forum, telling them how strict they should be, and telling them other things that they must do is like putting a lion in a cage. Let them mod the way they and bungie see fit, and let them handle things.

Surely if we have thought of it, someone else before us has, and the idea had been put down.

Logically, certain ideas make sense, and some would hurt things more than help them.

Being strict can be defined by a simple chain of events:

Someone starts a modding discussion. -> The thread is locked/deleted. -> The member starts another thread, trying to justify the discussion. -> The user is blacklisted and the thread locked/deleted. -> The member gets angry, creates a secondary account, and starts a lot of problems. -> The mods then continue to blacklist this trouble-maker, but he continues to come back.

Now imagine this occuring 20 times a day. The mods would have their hands doubly filled.

The way they are is just fine. They do need to pick up the activity though.

I'm not that active, but never dead.

I think that mods should be so strict, that if you misspell one word you get an instant perma-ban. This even means if you spelt it right in your own country. So all Canadians like myself would die from typing 'colour'.

No, they should be so insanely strict that if you post a topic, no matter how good it is, you should be instantly banned. Simply hovering your mouse over the 'New Topic' button would cause an automatic Java script involving monkeys, bananas, and lots of screaming.

In fact, the mods should so strict that they don't even have to moderate. If you even thought about saying something stupid while sitting at your computer, you should instantly be loaded into a giant sling-shot and fired into the sun.

I would go for a rule that says if a thread has been made in the last 7 days and you create the same one it is locked. Repeat offenders get the sword. This rule wouldn't be strictly followed for people who haven't been here for 7 days of course. If this rule was enforced in Zanzibar I might go there. There is just something about have a front page with 25 thread slots that has 8 slots filled with cheater reports and halo 2 sucks that annoys me. I think this rule would help a lot in other forums too.

GET TO WORK SLAVE. :) You don't get paid for slave labor. Moderators don't post their paypal address. If they did they might get some Christmas cheer sent their way. By Christmas cheer, I of course mean large sums of money meant to prevent my blacklisting.

Yoozel do you accept donations in the form of alcoholic beverages??? If so, I'd just need a forwarding address.

Well we can't tell them to work harder because they don't get paid. If you want them to work stricter then you'd have to be charged for entering the forums. Anyways I think they're doing their best as it is and they don't need to change.

Same Sentiments mods out there! Have a Merry Christmas, Chanukah (Man it is hard to spell that word!), Quanza (Sorry it is hard to spell that word too! I'm not sure if I did spell it right either! Very sorry!), and whatever other random holidays that are coming up!

I actually have a question for the members gone mods out there. Do you feel like your life has been sucked away by the modship? Like your not regular members anymore? Seems like you would, but thats just what I see.

We can't really ban people for doing something like that because we don't have a search feature...I mean sure you can look through the archive one page at a time but that is so BORING!

Anyway I think a lot of the mods are on a break right now anyway. It's the holidays and hanging with friends and family is a lot more fun than bungie.net.
