Subject: What is it with spartans and falling?

Is i just me or does it seem weird that noble 6 (in reach), and master chief (in H 3) can both surive a jump from space but can be blown up with grenades?

its not just them

about 30 of them jumped out of a falling pelican in the upper atmosphere and most survived.

  • 03.05.2011 10:45 PM PDT

yeah bt those were just examples, i meean y coulnd't they be destroyed with a huge fall but can with a grenade

  • 03.05.2011 10:51 PM PDT

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Grenades are miniature nukes by 2552 obviously.

  • 03.05.2011 10:55 PM PDT

Well, MC survive the fall from the Dreadnought to Earth because... well he had Armor Lock (true story!) And Noble 6 survived his fall from space to New Alexandria because he had a thing called a M-Spec Reentry Pack.

  • 03.05.2011 10:57 PM PDT

but you can die by falling to, like in the cliff of the very begining on the pillar of autum lvl on reach

  • 03.05.2011 10:57 PM PDT

(\.(\

they all survived by using certain assists, red team hit trees and water, MC rode a door down and 6 had an entry pack on, plus grenades with hyper sonic shrapnel does a little more damage than falling.

"Ignorance is a plague."

Close, but the plague killed those infected with it, and the ignorant are still alive.
I wish ignorance was a plague.

Because the grenades are overpowered. Look at the Reach Beta. The "grenades" were about the size of watermelons and caused instant death to whole rooms of people.

a door wold nat save anyone if they fell from space dude

  • 03.05.2011 11:02 PM PDT

They used armor lock while falling, essentially.

  • 03.05.2011 11:54 PM PDT

The Fact Chief went into Armor Lock and Noble 6 used a Re-entry pack?

So they're uber newbz for god modding the game into letting them Armor Lock more than 5 seconds.

You can use Armor Lock in the air in Halo 3, Thus why its in the future.

Lol...

there is armor lock in h 3?

  • 03.06.2011 12:37 AM PDT

We will know soon enough, but it will require thought. Deep thought. Mendicant Bias must be found. The Mantle will soon follow.

Lol...

Explaining logical Halo canon to a member with just over a month of total Bungie.net experience is pretty much pointless, just saying. Many won't accept anything more than an explanation found within poorly interpreted game mechanics as far as what the vast Halo story is to them.

uh what r u trying to say here?

Gameplay is gameplay, it has very little bearing on canon, as a game has to be played by a controller with 10 buttons, and has to be fair.

And you are ignorant for thinking otherwise.

I fail to see how falling and explosions are the same...

Thus why I added the lol at the end, I couldn't stop laughing at what the possible reply could be.

But it isn't the Armour lock as seen in halo reach. It is different and it just ceases the hydrolics in the suit so the spartan inside cannot control it and therefore cannot by owned by physics.

In the very start of Halo 3 you will notice that the Master Chief is kind of sitting there in a stationary position, this is the "armor lock" that has been mentioned :D

  • 03.06.2011 3:32 AM PDT

It's because falling they had something to slow them down sort of so with their armour could survive most probably by locking the gel layer as red team did in first strike. Where as grenades release concussive force and extreme heat and shrapenel which shred though shields and then through armour as well.

  • 03.06.2011 5:48 AM PDT

Well, Chief hit the ground harder as he used a piece of Forerunner hull/door to shield himself on decent, which was much faster then Six's.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

They secretly want to be like the ODSTs.
