Subject: Where did all the ODST's go in ODST?

"A LIE is a LIE"

- Truly intelligent and deep Black ops trailer

At the start of ODST there are about 30-40 drop pods including your squads, and right after Truth's carrier goes in the slip space they disappear out of view.

Only your squad is found in the entire game...

My guess, they're dead.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

And the Slipspace portal said "Om Nom Nom"

The End.

To Pipboy 3050,

Based on the trajectory of the moon and the sun, probably at the bottom of the ocean. I bit lots of holes in them.

Hahaha ^

it's possible, OP, that these pods were destined for Voi or old Mombasa to aid in civie defense and evacuation.
however it does seem foolish to commit only 6 ODSTs to an entire city...

The rest were headed to impact on the assault carrier and capture regret. I'd bet few ended up across Mombasa, old and new, with a good number going underwater.

I put the laughter in manslaughter

the ODST's from what I heard during the cutscene at the opening of the campaign were headed to make swiss cheese of the Assault carrier..
I distinctly remember Roman QQing about how useless a sniper would be in a covenant assault carrier.

  • 03.07.2011 9:17 AM PDT

Yup, the other ODSTs were all heading for the carrier. And so was Buck's squad until Dare changed the trajectory; you can see that happening in the announcement trailer too.

Guys...it's the first rule of Movies and Video games.

Send either a single guy or a small squad to deal with the ENTIRE problem.

This is how Halo 1, 2, and 3 worked.

Why can't ODST work like that too?

Cause they ain't Spartans :3

I find it funny how an ODST can literally run with a ripped turret but the Spartans in Halo 3 are SUPEEEER SLOW when carrying one.

I am a practicing traditional Catholic.

OP it's a good question but just because you don't meet up with them in the game doesn't mean they weren't there. They could have been anywhere in the city.

Gameplay mechanic. You don't have shields, so naturally you are sped up.

Your squad lived because if you actually listen to the game Dare makes you go off course to the Alpha site but the explosion sends you off course.

True, true. But if you think about it, you kind of have a shield in the game. I mean, there's a limited amount of damage you can receive before you start losing health.

  • 03.07.2011 11:25 AM PDT

Originally the Drop pods were supposed to land On the Assault Carrier and possibly puncture it so they were inside. But Dare changed her squads course to go on her mission while the others continued towards the carrier. This is the only thing that saved your squad. All the other ODST's died.

That "shield bar" is your health bar.

I know that, but when they start hitting you the screen starts to turn to red to a certain degree before you lose portions of your health bar.

That's the armor taking the hits first.

Yeah, but it serves as a toned down version of the energy shield present on the other games. You know what I mean? Like, I'm not saying it's a shield on its own, but it also gives you enough protection.

I see what you mean, but I'm just glad we don't have to play as regular marines. We would be truly screwed.

What I don't get is why the screen goes red, it messes up your vision.

  • 03.07.2011 11:46 AM PDT

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

They probably got sucked into the slipspace portal and died.

Me neither, it must be a CoD style warning to tell you that you're getting damage and you should get cover or something.
