Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

Absolutely not. For starters, Bnet has a very professional feel to it; drop down sigs as an example.

Secondly, it could be abused beyond reason. As a matter of fact, it has been abused beyond reason. See JB's post, and if you were here the day the public got a hold of that information...well...let's just say you likely lost your internet innocence that day.

It doesn't matter if they get banned and lose their privileges to use this ability. There are children on this website, and there are without a doubt trolls that link to shocking images.

Lastly, you may say people can link to shocking images regardless as it is. There's one key difference. The Community wouldn't be able to warn one another.

The only ones that should have this ability, is employee's.

Edit: The thread linked wasn't a Shock Site or Shock Image thread. It is however, a wonderful example.

1. Only users (honorable+) can use this feature. If you are here this long then you probably are a good Bungie.net member and won't be as likely to troll.

I think we should be alol

This should become a bungie.net meme.
that will never be abol to happen. like that?

anyway, i agree with Forum, there is no reason to give us the feature, but if we are given the ability it should be to higher ranked members. I would rather it was a little lower than mythic though, because thats a milestone many dont have. That may be the idea though.

I think we should be alol to post videos and pictures on Bungie.net but there are a few "rules"...

1. Only users (honorable+) can use this feature. If you are here this long then you probably are a good Bungie.net member and won't be as likely to troll.

2. If you get a ban/warning, your right to post any pictures will be taken away for a period of time.

The period of time varies from a few weeks/months to never.

Well, what do you think?!?

Please discuss and thank you...

This could be a good idea, but is in need of revision. Being an Honourable Member hardly establishes that one is sufficiently trustworthy to be given the ability to post images and videos; a better condition is that a user must be an Exalted Mythic Member or "above", or something similar.

Lets not, simple as that.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

This could work with some revision. First make the permissions not based on any forum data, but game data. Only people with a 50 in halo 3, and whatever the equivalent of that is in Reach can post pics. Since they're the most pro, they should get the most dough.

OT: Na, we don't need to post pics in threads. There's literally no reason for it.

I think honorable is a little too low. If they were to implement this (which I don't think they should) I would hope they would make it strict such as Legendary as a minimum title.

My Screenshots / My Group / Remember to follow the rules or you will get trapped in a box.

Not even Forum Ninja's can do that. No just no.

There's really know reason for it, man. You can just post a link, and hell, even that privilege has been abused.

A lot of people can't be trusted. I think maybe letting Forum Ninja's use this tool, would be cool.

Defiantly not any original member between (Member-Elder Mythic Member), if Bungie did that people would over-abuse it.

So, that isn't a good idea.

I was thinking about this the other day actually.

What would you guys say to allowing [sshot] and [bpvideo] tags for posts? [sshot] being for game screenshots, and [bpvideo] being for Bungie Pro Video rendered videos. Kind of like the old [h3shot] tag in the Files' forums we used to have.

Something like [sshot]345345345[/sshot] would embed a screenshot, it could be limited (just like quote tags are), and could show a "File has been reported, view at your own risk" warning if it's a screenshot that's been collapsed.

Same thing with videos. [bpvideo]85683475[/bpvideo]. It could be limited, and the same warning for screenshots could be shown too. Though "no autoplay" would definitely need to be included.

I remember the halo 3 shots. Weren't you only allowed one per thread or something? It was a really cool feature.

I really haven't seen a point in being able to post pictures or videos in a forum. Most of the people come here to post instead to share pics or videos. If a picture or video is important to their post, they can link it.

Yeah, you could only do it if you were the OP, and you could only do it in the Files' forums, so it was kind of limited/pointless when the file was linked to the thread anyway.

I actually really like this idea. It's much more simple and there wouldn't really be any profane posts such as shock site pictures. There would also be less need for links.

However, I feel that it would clutter up the page of the thread if a tonne of people posted them.

I'd like it if we could just limit it to one forum. I have a feeling if it wasn't, people will be posting "rate my screenshot" in the Reach and Flood forums constantly. I actually really like the simple text look at b.net.

  • 03.08.2011 8:20 PM PDT

Left here a long time ago.

One time, I download that userscript that adds extra BBCode support, like IMG tags, to the forums.

Then I viewed the Title Bar Thread in the Coup forums.

ENTIRE BROWSER SLOWED TO A CRAWL.

NEVER AGAIN.

We don't need yer fancy image tags on these forums. Besides, they're never used for serious discussion. I once saw urk post a photo of Orlando Bloom in a bloom complaint thread; that's about the most serious use such a feature would ever see.

Off-topic threads like that already occur; reporting them solves that problem. Regardless though, I actually can't even think of a reason for people to use one of those tags in a forum like The Flood where the post would be on-topic anyway...
