Subject: Would the humans have won the Human-Covenant war without Master Chief?

Maybe it's because almost all of the Companies were killed on their first missions against the Covenant.

Yeah, but people tend to think that it was like, oh yeah they arrived and instantly got killed. The truth is, they gave a fight.

Alpha Company lasted 7 days in the Covenant Factory thing before a giant countermeasure attack was sent, which according to the book consisted of thousands of Elites, Jackals and the likes.

Alpha Company went deep behind enemy lines with no support of any kind. They were there for several days whilst all the time they were being attacked by an enemy with superior numbers which eventually culminated in an attack from a massive counterforce. They still got the job done whilst undergoing this.

Beta were glassed by Seraphs and had the unfortune of having several Covenant cruisers there to offer backup to the Refinery. That is also where the Seraphs themselves came from. They were not counting on reinforcements being there before the attack began. Regardless, the job was done.

This was done without Shields, Mjolnir reactive circuitry and AI's.

Let's hope Kat doesn't run into a needle rifle.

And a nuclear blast that EMPs her suit's shielding.

If Kat had had some situational awareness, Carter used the Pelican's missiles and nose gun, and Emile looked at his Motion Tracker, then one of them could have stayed behind with a Jet Pack and all of them could have gone to the PoA, because 6 is the one equal of Chief, so him plus three other Spartans, Halo would have been destroyed a lot faster.

And they were later bombarded by heavy plasma rounds and glassed. The IIIs also had SPI, a piece of crap suit with no shielding and melts when plasma hits it. They would be in severe pain with 3rd degree burns, wearing steaming hot armor and being pushed to the limit.

Doesn't make sense if it was an EMP. Otherwise the elevator, armor lights, and KAT's pad thing wouldn't be working.

Yes...we would have lost without Mister Chief

The covenant serparatists only exist because MC blew up a halo ring.

The great ultimate game changing device Dr Halsey talks about is halo. And change the game it did. if MC and cortana were not aboard the POA, they would not have figured out halos secrets and eventually blown it up.

If they hadnt blown it up the covenant probably would of activated it by the beginning of halo 2. And short of that, the arbiter would still be supreme commander of the fleet of particular justice, and earth would of been obliterated.

As for kat, I stick by the idea that personal shields cannot exist unless they cover the whole body, so when kats helemt was off, her shields were down. The time between her putting the helmet back on and her death was not long enough for the shields to regen...or something.

Masterchief blew up the Alpha Halo, which thus shamed Thel Vadam' and put him in the position of The Arbiter.

Masterchief killed Regret which consolidated The Covenant Hierarchy, and gave The Prophet of Truth a reason to replace The Sangheili with the Jiralhanae, thus leading to The Great Schism. The Flood also killed Mercy, which gave Truth more power over The Covenant. The same Flood that was released as a result of warfare on Installation 05.

The support of The Seperatists were instrumental in destroying both The Flood on Earth, which attacked unprepared soldiers (as seen by the suicidal Marine) and decimated Truth's Fleet (something that The UNSC Home Fleet could not do alone)

All of this lead all the way back to The Chiefs destruction of Halo.

Exactly!

People don't give Noble Team enough credit.

Hee, Mister Chief XD That guy is funny looking, lol, gotta love Mister Chief and his lightsaber :P

Anyhoo, on topic.

No, Humanity would have lost badly had it not been for Chief, he is the whole reason that the events that won the war unfolded. Yes, he had some help along the way, Noble Team, Cortana, Halsey, Arbiter, and a whole schlew of other people too many to name, but ultimately it was all Chief's doing that ended the war in victory for the UNSC.

  • 03.08.2011 9:06 PM PDT

Yes and no.

We could have won without the Chief, but without Nobel team we wouldn't have been able to win. Also weren't there Covenant that turned and helped us?

Without the events that Noble was involved in Master Chief / PoA wouldnt have found Halo, the Flood, and killed Truth

That is completely besides the point of the thread. I'm surprised no one has decided to mention Dr Halsey since she is about as relevant to the question.

Halsey made the spartans, therefore blah blah blah.

Obviously a whole slew of people were necessary in the grand scheme of things, but for master chiefs part specifically, without him it would be impossible.
