I definitely believe every wildly inflated claim ITT.
Weow kid, do you even lift?

OK you want a serious response? Here's one I gave someone when they posted a film and asked me to give them tips. Obviously you can't see the film, but you can still understand how I think (or at least, used to), and there are tips on it. Mainly for Guardian, I think. Have fun.
To start with, the best thing for anyone to do, if they want to get better, is to watch a game they play in 3rd Person. This way, you can see where you go wrong, why you got killed and most importantly, where from.
So, I watched your film on Guardian, and wrote some tips down, where you could have done better at different points of the game. If you want to, you could watch the film again in 3rd person and read what I say.. You will understand. When I say 'at 7 seconds...' I mean theater time, not game time. So.. 7 seconds into the film.
At the end of the 'tips', I'll have the amount of kills you had, and then the amount of deaths. As well as this, I will have the amount of
deaths that I think were unnecessary.
Tips:
At 7 seconds:
- What you did was right, to put a nade on Blue Window, but when the two people came over the lift, you should have grabbed OS.
- With 2 people rushing lift, you know that one is going Camo, and one will either be Gold or Blue.
- Where you are (out the front of S2) is a bad position, because you are open to a team shot.
- This lead to an unnecessary death, and missed opportunity to get an easy 2 kill lead (OS and rush the two people that rushed Snipe).
At 51 seconds:
- Great position here.
At 56 seconds:
- You had a great position at Blue Window.
- You should never run Top Middle, especially in a BR start game.
- The better thing to do would be to lift over Snipe Lift, there is FAR more cover.
- You should always be aware of your ammo, equipment, grenades, etc. The Bubble Shield you had would have saved you.
At 1:10:
- You spawned S2, which is a good spawn. The best thing to do here is run to Elbow or S1.
- Your whole team is clustering at S2/S3. This leaves you trapped and open for a rush.
- This is a fault by your whole team, not just you.
At 1:22:
- You did well to get that assist for your team. The moment that one person died, you should have ran back to S1.
- This gives your team a chance to come up Elbow, while you can watch top mid.
- If anyone had come S2, you could have shot/meleed them.
- They threw one grenade at you, they were obviously going to throw two! (2 grenades kill you. Why throw just 1?)
- Even with the Hammer, you would have died while weak. They could have just come around the corner and shot you.
- Retreat when necessary!
At 1:36:
- You did the right thing to throw the nade, unfortunately it hit you.
- Once you were weakened, you should have gone up towards the coils.
- You should never chase a kill, especially when you're on one shot.
- You were left trapped at bottom gold.
At 2:02:
- Good team work.
At 2:11:
- There was nothing you could do, except maybe run to bottom mid and then to Green (your team mates were at Elbow and Top mid, you would
have been safe).
- Your death was your teams fault.
2:30 - 2:47:
- You did the right thing here.
- Picked up the 1 shot, ran to S2 (where your team mate was pushing) and put shots on the other team.
- Again, your team was at fault for all being S2 with you, when they should have been S3 and S2.
At 2:51:
- Good shots, good assist.
- Instead of running back up Elbow, you should have kept going to Green. You had a team mate there to back you up.
- Again, be mindful of your ammo.
- This death wasn't unnecessary, just could have been avoided.
At 3:09:
- You did the right thing going to Gold Ramp.
- Again, you did the right thing running from the three guys that were there.
- Why did you go back? You need to understand that in a close game (where you are losing), trading kills doesn't help, and taking
silly risks makes it worse.
- You should have kept going to Bottom Mid, then Green.
- Unnecessary death.
At 3:31:
- When you watch the film again, pause it right on this very moment.
- What good are you when you're behind your team mate?
At 3:36:
- Unfortunate that you didn't get that kill.
- Your team mates are at fault again, but you could have avoided this by going to Green when you spawned (at around 3:27)
- Why Green? You had 2 team mates at Snipe (S2, S3) and one at Camo. There is no need for you to be at S2, but Green would have been the
perfect position. You can put shots on enemies running Top Mid, and you can get help from the guy at Camo (as well as help him).
At 3:50:
- You did the best thing you could in your situation, run S3.
- Personally, I would have run Bottom Mid, and either to Gold or Green.
- This death could have been easily avoided.
At 4:44:
- Good kill.
- Judging on your team mates position, they will spawn in Blue.
- That death could have been avoided by good awareness.
At 5:16:
- Again, all crowded at Snipe.
At 5:21:
- Bad luck, they had a good team shot.
5:34 - 5:49:
- Good kill and good retreat. You were lucky not to get killed (you probably should have run to S2 the moment you got that kill at 5:34).
At 5:57:
- Good position and team shot.
At 6:26:
- Unlucky, but you probably should have run to Green when you saw your team mate die there. Once he died, the other team could rush.
At 6:48:
- Good kill, good move to S2.
- After killing him there, you should expect them to spawn Green or Elbow (which they did).
At 6:51:
- Unlucky that your team mate got killed with OS.
- Good move to retreat, and then move back.
At 7:10:
- Good kill.
At 7:18:
- Running to S2 on one shot is not a good idea in a BR start game.
- Running to the door, on one shot, with a shotgun, is an even worse idea (7:20).
- That death was very unnecessary.
At 7:30:
- Personally, I would have run to Blue Window.
- Going over Snipe Lift wasn't that smart, when the other team is coming up Elbow.
At 7:39:
- Running Top Mid and trying to out BR that guy was not smart. You should have put shots on while retreating to Green.
- You knew that they were at Snipe. You should have tried to be off top mid ASAP!
----------------------
6 Kills
8 Assists
12 Deaths
6 Unnecessary Deaths
----------------------
Now, look at those above stats.
50% of your deaths were unnecessary!! A further 2 or 3 more could have been avoided!
You could have ended up with at least a +4 K/D!
Who knows how many more kills you would have gotten if you didn't get those annoying, silly deaths.
I like to think of things in terms of 'Pressure'. You got 6 kills and 8 assists. This adds up to 14 pressure. You got 12 deaths, so you end up with an overall of 2 Pressure.
Assist = 1 Pressure
Kill = 1 Pressure
Death = -1 Pressure
The way I see it, is like this. < 5 pressure = Assists where your team mates have cleaned up your kills when you have died (some times where you didn't need to die!).
You should try to aim for a Pressure of 5-10 at least. Keep it in mind! Think of it like the Reach ranking system. You get nothing for camping all game, but you get a good rank for Assisting and Killing, while dying is a negative.
Keep the Pressure on!
-----------------------------------------------
So pretty much, here's what I think of you as a player.
- You have good skill.
- You have a clean BR, and know what SHOULD be done, but you lack the positioning/awareness to do it.
- This is your main (and very big) flaw. You need to learn awareness (where they will spawn, where they are on the map, where they will go).
- The biggest teller of the Enemies position is:
A) Your team mates callouts.
and
B) Your team mates position on the map.
Here is a thread on MLGpro.com. It is a very detailed guide to the spawn system on Halo 3.. I haven't read it, but if you want to understand the spawns, you should read it.
Practice this:
- In games, look at where your team mates are.
- Call out (even if they don't have mics).
- Calling out (even to yourself) will make sure that you know where they are.
- Try to move to positions where your team mates can help you, and you can help them.
- Try to be aware of the other teams positions (look at your teams positions, listen to their callouts).
- Make sure that you always know where you can retreat to, and when to do it (don't try to take on more than one person!!).
- Only get into a 1 on 1 battle if you know you can win.
- Be confident.
- Put shots on anyone and everyone, but don't go out of your way to do it.
- Think about the pressure you are putting on the other team. Pressure = (Kills + Assists) - Deaths.
---------------------------------------------------
So that's pretty much my huge wall of tips for you to go through. It only took me about 30 min, so I may have missed some detail.
I would suggest going into Theater and watching the file while reading the tips. Make sure you watch it in 3rd person as well, and look around the map. I guarantee you, you will notice your mistakes. The main thing is learning off your mistakes.
One more thing.
Think.
