Halo PC - It has official online gaming. Xbox Connect just doesn't run as well as Halo PC does online. (I know, it wasn't made to be played online which is exactly what I'm getting at) I'd choose the ability to easily find a multiplayer game with loads of people in it at any time over having 2 player Co-Op. Also, the graphics are better on the PC version. The only thing wrong is the shaders and you can find fixes for that.

If you want it to act like you have LIVE, well, here you go:
Xfire
TeamSpeak

Only two things you need right there for having an Xbox LIVE experience on Halo PC.

Another thing. The bonus maps/weapons/vehicles:
Timberland
Gephyrophobia
Infinity
Danger Canyon
Death Island
Rocket Hog
Banshee (In multiplayer)
Fuel Rod Cannon (In Multiplayer)
Flame Thrower

Oh, something huge I almost forgot. Halo Custom Edition

PC, for online play and extra PC only maps.

  • 03.09.2011 8:58 AM PDT

Console because that's where it all started. I think it feels more natural to play with a Xbox controller for some reason.

You do know that some PC gamers plug their controllers to their computers?

the maps alone are worth playing on the PC. I really wish they would add them to Reach or any other halo game.

We're comparing Halo: Combat Evolved which had absolutely none of that.

You can have friends with Xfire

There's support for modding/Halo Custom Edition which is 100x better than Forge

You can recreate the newer games with Halo Custom Edition

The graphics are outdated compared to the new games. I'll give you that, but, you can actually have great graphics if you know how to make a map correctly. See this for example

Personally, there are some games that just feel right on a console, and Halo is one of those. There's something different about the atmosphere.

Me owning the PC version of Halo 2 that sealed that deal as well :| However, I like the idea of PC mods for it.

Halo 2 Vista was a terrible port. You can't base your feelings off that. FPS games are meant to be on PC. The reason why Halo was revolutionary was because it was the very first time an PC styled FPS was actually good/popular on a console. The only difference from playing Halo: Combat Evolved on Xbox and using a controller on the PC is Aim Assist. The only other difference would be nostalgia.

Indeed it was a terrible port, and I harboured my feelings before I had it. It just happened to cement the fact that sitting in front of a PC doesn't feel the same as sitting next to a console.

I suppose it is nostalgia in some abstract way, but in another way, it's not. Games like Mass Effect and Fallout I'll happily play on either console or PC, but games like Halo or Borderlands etc just feel naturally at home on consoles (nostalgia and Borderlands rarely cross paths, which is why I'm inclined to believe it's something about the game).

Maybe it's just me, but some games just don't feel like they should on PC...

Halo PC if you plan on playing a lot of online multiplayer.

Halo Console if you want to play co-op with your friends.

Wrong. Halo was first being planned as an RTS for Apple. It was then laster finished for the Xbox in November 15, 2001.
Then on Spetember 30, 2003 it was released for Mac/PC.
So yes, Halo started on the console.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I´d pick console for the controls and I like how it runs better on the Xbox, but then again the PC has online...

Seriously? How do you do that? The controllers don't look like they'd sync up.

Also, the graphics and gameplay for Halo games that are on PC can have much higher graphics levels than the Xbox. There's even H:CE mods to make graphics better.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

Console, it lacks structure on PC.

Matchmaking is basically one big custom game finder on PC.
Therefore it's hard to find competitive games as most of the game's are for the lols. Adding to your statisics not being tracked, people don't really care to play hardcore. They just run ahead, so that teammate going -20 costing you the game has no care in the world and will do so again.

With console, you know the game was design specifically for the xbox, it's optimized to the controls and hardware limitations of the console. Therefore it runs more fluid in terms of gameplay. The online, with stat tracking gives you a chance to bring your A-game, in which you can reflect back on with theatre and stat tracking etc.

I've have Halo 1 and 2 on the PC.
and Halo 1,2,3,ODST,Wars,Reach.

As a reference.

PC, games on PC have a much longer life span, and the community are a lot more supportive, since they've got more tools available to them.

Then again, I am a PC gamer, so my opinion's definitely biased.

Ughh. I'm on the fence for this one.

Console- Campaign is much more fun with a controller, and LAN parties are just so damn fun on consoles!

PC- Extra maps, online play, and custom edition is great.

Haha

I'm a console gamer, so my opinion will be to a certain extent biased, as well. I do agree with what you posted about PC's as well. But for Halo, i would have to say consoles.
