Subject: Who would win in a ground battle Halo or Starcraft?

Covenant are absolutely no match for the Protoss in space or on the ground. Carriers crack planets, they don't simply 'glass' them, the Gantrithor is supposed to have been one of these 'Supercarriers' that had that ability. Zealots are more than a match for all Covenant ground forces, they are stronger, faster and more lethal than anything the Covenant have came across before, Psionic blades for example are supposed to be absolutely lethal, they simply cut through everything. thats before we even go into things like Dark Templar, High Templar, Dragoons, Stalkers, Colossi, Immortals. also the bane of the Covenant would be the Dark Archon with its ability to control minds, thats pretty useful skill. a nice example of how potent Protoss close combat weapons are, watch the video of Zeratul (Dark Templar Hero) engaging numerous Zerg Hydralisks, his blade simply goes right through with absolutely no resistance. an example of Protoss ranged weapons, in the original game when a Dragoon shoots some bloke in one of the Cutscenes, it simply disintergrates him.

Zerg vs. Flood might be an interesting battle, depends entirely if Zerg can be infected by the Flood, if not then it'll be a bloodbath, since lets be honest a bunch of infected blokes taking on a horde of razor toothed, barbed clawed monsters that can rip a person limb from limb isn't gonna end well.

also its unfair to add people like the Xel'naga, Precursors, Forerunner, etc. since they aren't active any longer in either universe, therefore shouldn't be taking part in the hypothetical discussion, also we know nothing really of their ground tactics or weapons, especially the Xel'naga and Precursors.

Not much of an argument here. Each species in the SC universe is hundreds of years if not a thousand or so years ahead of the species in the Halo universe. This excludes the ancient species for obvious reasons. SC universe species also have vastly different (almost magical) abilities. No such thing exists for the UNSC or the Covenant Empire as the Halo universe is (sort-of) grounded within the laws of Physics.
