Subject: Speed boosts on warthogs

Within Halo wars the warthog was equipped with a speed boost option (also known as ram) in which the warthog sped up to kill, where as Halo CE, Halo 2 and Halo 3 did not have this speed boost just picked up speed progressively. But in the Cut Scene of the halo reach mission 'Tip of the Spear' when the first person view of your spartan is watching Kat she says 'Hold on to something' and pushes a lever and it speeds the warthog up so it can make the jump, yet no warthog has that power within the game.

Do you think it should have been added to halo reach ?

Well, the thing is that bungie has made the speed boost only available for the covenant vehicles like the banshee or the ghost, so that why they didn't put that on the UNSC vehicles. also i think that this feature has been available to the UNSC vehicles simply because the game itself has been made by Ensemble, not by Bungie so they probably didn't know that that feature was only for the covenant vehicles. or they done that because they thought it would be cool to splatter covenant with the warthog

Likely not canon. Afterburners on Hydrogen powered cars tends to lead to spontaneous combustion.

The "speed boost" isn't really any type of boost. It's just so the running people over is an ability, and not allowing you to have a swarm of warthogs simply drive through the enemy infantry and slaughter them that way.

As for what Kat did, I doubt that's a 'speed boost' I always figured that lever was the brake you can use in gameplay. Maybe it's some type of gear shift?

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

I think what Kat was doing beforehand was maintaining the same speed. When she said "Hold on" i would guess she just put her foot down and went all out.

Kinda like if you hold back a little when you drive the Warthog and then letting it go all the way up on the thumb-stick.

But since you did mention a lever or some sort of gear change, i would'nt be surprised if that was a cutscene only thing.

Your spartan holds that same lever in gameplay, so it's nothing extraordinary.

In that case, my original point still stands. Thanks for the confirmation, i was unsure about that.
