Why a controller at all? Mouse + keyboard is so much better!

Yes AB, I can't understand why someone would want a controller. If they have played with keyboard and mouse enough to get used to the two, they should understand they are superior. But I hear some are very good with the controller.

it all depends on the game. fast paced games are for controlers and slow paced games are for mouse and keyboard. for example: halo 1 (if you have played it on both xbox and pc) is best with mouse and keyboard. halo 2 would be best with controler because its more smother. if you want to turn around with controler you turn at the same pace and with mouse you turn fast then stop. and you cant just keep spinning forever you have to then lift up your mouse to recenter it on your desk. and also this would be quite stupid but your mouse and keyboard could send info at different speeds so your movements wouldnt be syncronized.
and with controler if you want to go at 80 degrees you move the left thumb to 80 degrees but with keyboard you only have 0/360, 45, 90, 135, 180, 225, 270, and 315 degrees but with controler you get from 0 every single degree to 360. (this is all about in facing the same direction)

I'm tellin ya, with a good gaming mouse, anything is possible. I would never consider going back to a controller. With the mouse I have I am able to adjust sensitivity on the fly. Up to 5 dpi settings. Although I understand were you are coming from yanksfan, I think with the right gamin mouse, you can't go wrong.

As for the keyboard, an experienced keyboarder can get the fluid movement with his/her keyboard. I don't think the suttle differences between the two would make a controller any better.

To me gunning accuracy far outweigh's anything a controller can produce.

Does the 360 use a usb controller? does it work on a pc... or in my case a mac? wouldn't the computer need somekind of software to understand the controller? I don't have the game yet. I just want to know what my options are.

I do agree with Yanksfan99 that a game controller eliminates all the mouse lifting and repositioning, and that you have a little more walking control, for however much that's worth.

However, the fact that you don't have as many buttons on the controller can get in the way. For instance, I've played Halo 2 before and I've seen that it's hard to get to a lot of the buttons (i.e. the flashlight and switch buttons). Plus, how do you use the talk function when you're using a controller? That doesn't sound plausible.

I'm a live user but hoping to make the switch to pc soon. I think the xbox 360 controller would be perfect. I've never used the flash light on live and switching grenades is easy on the xbox once your used to it. The only problem with the xbox controller is when you are in a close fight and you are meleeing each other you have to take your thumb off the stick to do so you lose direction for a second. The 360 controller has 2 more triggers so one can be used for melee and the other to switch grenades. and for talking xbox uses a headset that usually people leave turnd on

I think it's safe to say, it's all a matter of personal opinion. Myself, I like the keyboard and mouse. With sensitivity conrol's on the mouse, I can quickly switch while barely moving my middle finger. I try to use a controller these day's, and feel so uncoordinated, (spelled right?) I was just to cheap to buy a controller for my pc when I first started playing games on it. Now, I'm so used to it I would never go back.

Not a crazy idea. However, an easier and cheaper way is to get a USB wire, an Xbox controller, and splice the wires together.
