What I have been thinking about recently, is missing the two maps you simply cannot play on any more without live. (Four including the supplementary on Vista.) For those who are uncertain as to what I am talking about, direct your view below:

Desolation

Tombstone

These two were great maps, in my opinion, and were not thought about greatly due to the proximity of the release date being too close to Halo 3. It is unfair to those who have had their "files corrupted," not able to replay these with their friends.

There were two others that were in the Vita variant of Halo 2 that I did not mention yet, but would like them for the same reason and they are:

District

Uplift

I really enjoy these maps and would even more so on Xbox. If you are unfamiliar with them, trust me, they're fun.

So, what do you think? Do you feel the shrieking nostalgia within you as I do? Or are you the likes of a newer generation?

Discussion is desirable.

Thank you forum for any and all positive contributions you have.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Use a transfer cable, then you have the maps.

This is true with Desolation and Tombstone, however, even if it were also true with the latter, all memory stored throughout the web is not permanent.

A new disk would ensure a millennium of data to be safe. (Files corrode faster than disks or any form of hard copies.) So then, my kids, grand kids, et cetera, can play it. This is not the precise reason I want this, though I trust my point reached the other side?

Post Scriptum:

A transfer cable will not work in my case because the files are already corroded and irretrievable.

Disks corrode too. Look at older CDs. And then you have browning game cartridges as well which are in terrible condition.

As for the latter, they would need to be ported. MS doesn't care about Halo 2, and it's impossible to port from h2v due to the fact that the elitests with the info don't care.

I am acknowledging that fact. However, say there was an accident. Both units of storage corrode at their fastest natural states. Memory off a hard drive can be erased from existence in under a second, whereas the disc would last at least a couple of years longer providing an unbalanced force such as acid is not involved in either process.

Exactly. They don't care. The little brother who wants his data and can't get it because he needs to port it. (Requiring help from his older brother.) Since the elder one does not care, nothing happens. Little one is left unsatisfied.

I value your point too. However, it is just a personal preference of mine to keep hard copies of some sort. I am sure that I am not the only one.

You're not the only one. I feel the same way.

halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

They should re-release the dlc expansion cd to include all the maps for the xbox version. It should also include the 2 maps that are exclusive to Halo 2 vista.

Will never happen. MS doesn't care, neither does bungie.

Halo 2 for Life!

I would like new maps. I was lobbying for some 6 months before H2 went down and I knew it was going down...

It would help with some verity.

Also they should allow all maps to be in the BTB playlist. Midship BTB was sweet and every other map would be sweet as well.

Although this does not directly correlate to the discussion, I tend to agree. Specifically with the remark about Midship BTB. I can personally vouch for that being one of those great moments from H2, and would probably make Reach better, (If you are referring to such when mentioning the BTB playlist.)

Which also brings me to the thought of another update being included in the hypothetical new map pack. One which would allow XBL or XBA play perhaps? It is not impossible, rather improbable because of what JacobGRocks stated:

Normally, I would scold this as being preposterously pessimistic, however, I also agree. MS is a big cooperation who could care less about an out of date piece of work. (In their eyes.) Bungie, on the other hand, handed over their rights to Halo, therefor rendering them incapable, I believe, in initializing changes.

Which is why I did search for a "343 Industries.net," but posted this here because of my failure to find such a place.

Guys, this can happen. People must be proactive however. I am at a loss at how this can happen easily, but I am all ears.

I stand enlightened. Thank you, Exalted Grumpy1. However, this is still not a community such at Bungie.net, correct? Is there any way there that others, along with I, can express our ideas?

Yeah, the link below your last post goes to Waypoint, then if you scroll down you see 343 Industries. Click that and you arrive at the original link I gave you so at this point I don't know anymore than you, unfortunately. What's up with that jobs page?

You know, that looks very much like a "help wanted" sign to me. In which case, this is rather frightening. Could they falter in the new lines of Halo by unemployment?

And if it is true that 343 Industries is lacking skilled employees, this means they are in no position to respond to our requests anyways. Also, why would Bungie hand the keys down to such an unprepared, (if so,) corporation?

I suppose that this is mere speculation, however, what should we have to do to make this happen now if these conjectures are accurate?
