"Find where the liar hides, so that I may place my boot between his gums!" - Rtas 'Vadum

I will cut straight to the point. There is speculation about of this being a new ARG. I am however naturally cynical of it, as are a few others. It may just be a rather well thought out Fan-fic.

Link

Look for usernames "ISitInA" and "Hive". They seem to be the ones doing it. You may need to read the whole thread to get the context of some of the posts though. They appear to answer peoples questions about the Post Halo 3 universe sometimes. (The setting is apparently 2612.)

Has anybody else heard of this or know any more information about it?

That is the first I have heard of it. It seems too well done to be a fanfic. We'll have to wait and see.

I read throuh some of that stuff...and I have like...zero clue what is going on.

Granted...I skimmed...but...I think this is just some sort of Fan Fiction.

I saw this but I wasn't sure if it was fan-fic or official. Since I'm not the only one who doesn't know, I'll go ahead and keep an eye on it.

If it isn't an ARG, it is certainly well written.

Looks pretty good, but there are small things here and there that make me think it's just a fan fiction thing. When a company makes an ARG, they are incredibly consistent with tone, capitalization, punctuation, how they refer to protocols, etc. This is one of the better ones I've seen, but appears to be a fake.

Yes, there seems to be a few references to IloveBees. The AI is apparently called Hive, always begins a paragraph by "buzzing" and constantly refers to something called "The Spacebees".

I honestly have no clue who these people are. The names I outlined above are the ones responsible. They might be employees in cognito, or they might not.

Yeah. It is really detailed. For example, it has a parallel with the Ship of Thesis, a philosophical dilemma relating to identity. Seeing as this ship in the story was taken from an old frigate, but much of the original superstructre replaced, it is a strong parallel.

Although, what to make of this:

It is set in 2612. The AI says that they would be celebrating the 43rd anniversary of the end of the Human-Covenant war.

2612 - 43 = 2569. I thought that the war ended in 2553? It starts talking about the missions that put an end to it, as well as Orion. We know that the Sangheili kept fighting on against the Loyalist up until at least 2559, though got the impression that neither they nor Humanity had enough gas left in their tanks to keep on fighting for another decade. This sort of makes it dubious for me.

Another thing. All ideas of a Human-Sangheili alliance are dead it appears. Covenant have rarely been seen according to the AI, and it is usually just ships floating adrift.

If this is true, then it might be a secret ARG for Halo 4?

This...Is very well done. It seems as someone has taken a log off of a UNSC computer. It's hard to follow, and it looks too good to be fanfic.

I don't know if it's a full-fledged ARG though.

"ISitInA" and "Hive".

'I Sit In A' 'Hive'.

'I Sit In A' 'Hive'.
If you notice the first post, it appears to be a letter under the username, "ISitInA", and the formal name at the bottom is "Chair". This is a reference to the body of the letter where Chair specifically refers to there being 2 different types of ONI employees, those that are desk jockeys and those that are in the field.

Hive is just the name of the AI.

I was thinking the same thing. Granted, everyone makes mistakes, but it doesn't feel right with me. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it.

I can't help but ask, if this is an official ARG, why is the poster using a gmail account?

Official ARGs use email accounts/usernames that are blatantly official. Anyone could make a gmail account, but not everyone can get an @bungie.com or @microsoft.com email.

For example, the Cortana letters came from an @bungie.com address. The Superintendent had a green title bar and text and Iris had a custom avatar.

These are things only accessible via official means.

Oh I see now. Well, now I am very sceptical of it.

Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man.
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.

At first sight, it appears to be professionally done (to high quality for a fan fic, even a good one), but then you notice various spelling mistakes. If this was done by 343/Bungie/Microsoft, it'd be checked and edited about three billion times, and no such mistakes would exist.

  • 03.14.2011 9:29 AM PDT

I've just quickly read through it, and I'm struggling to make sense of it.

If it actually is a work fan-fiction, then it's certainly one of the best I've seen, with regard to intricacy and detail.

Can anyone tell me how to sign up to HBO? I can't find a button anywhere, and I want to ask "Hive" a few questions :)
