i've been reading and responding to a few forums that talk about ideas for a possible Halo: ODST 2; but i want to discuss ideas pertaining to the subject about something a little more specific
DROP PODS
known in universe as the Single Occupant Exoatmospheric Insertion Vehicle or SOEIV. they've garnered a bit of a mystique in game and in certain novels and many people have even attempt to forge either accurate looking drop pods or usable ones that can be played with in custom games.

but in Halo ODST 2 i think that the SOEIV would take on a whole new character in the game become an extremely important part of game play.

i had a few thought and ideas for the use of SOEIV's in ODST 2 and just a few thought on other flying vehicles in the game as well.

in the course of campaign the player would experience multiple combat drops as the story progressed through different battle and two-three different characters, with a drop maybe every three or so mission, some drop would be controllable and the player could choose to land anywhere within a certain area (and only gain control at a certain altitude to prevent the player from exiting a certain size of playing space); while other missions would have only view controlled drops in order to show a cinematic of maybe a bad landing (buck in Tayari Plaza). some missions could include a briefing before the drop where the player would be able to select their weapons from a (limited: in order to prevent player from grabbing a splaser and Snipe rifle before every drop) weapon rack. once they hit the ground they would have to clear ground forces and AA defense's from the area in order to allow the next wave of pods or pelican and albatross dropships to bring reinforcements, vehicles and extra ammunition.

another thing i'd like to see is the use of dedicated equipment SOEIV's, as mentioned in Halo Cole Protocol that certain SOEIV where meant to drop a single Mongoose or act bring down extra ammo to the combat zone.

briefly i'd just like to mention other flying thing quickly
in forge i think that pelicans and phantoms should be usable, even if they never make it into multiplayer, if it flys and its in campaign than it should be in forge (well anything smaller than a longsword or sabrefighter). and also, i want the hornet back for this game, in all its glory from halo 3, and included in matchmaking un-nerfed! also i think that the falcon should return to in ODST2, with two versions in multiplayer matchmaking; first the same version from Reachs multiplayer with two door mounted machine guns and no pilot controlled chin turret; but the second version would have the Pilot controlled autocannon turret as the only weapon mounted on the vehicle, it would also feature two side facing passenger seats where the riders would use their own weapons and objective carriers could once again be properly air transported.

if you have anything to add or other ideas, please comment, but if all your going to do tell me that you think my ideas are stupid than find a different thread to spread your misery.

If halo ODST is even considered, the campaign would have to be better quality than halo 1's campaign, other wise no one would bother buying it.

Some form of multiplayer would be needed..

i had mentioned in another thread my ideas for multiplayer

Multiplayer should be split into two playlist groups: Spartan and Helljumper
Spartan playlists would feature normal halo multiplayer; shields high jump height and big melees.
Helljumper playlists would feature character atributes much like campaign where, the player is weaker slower and smaller, but to compensate helmets would take at least one headshot before the head became vulnerable, to compensate for no shields (and to match the canon description of ODST helmets having superior ballistic protection.) overall Helljumper playlists would feature much more tactical gameplay while still retaining the halo feel.
