My jokes, so I don't lose them (ignore this):
ZedFish's Opinion on Sgt. Foley.
ZedFish's Forerunner Rickroll.

My only problem with Cryptum is that I finished it in 2 days, which is bizarre as I am a fairly slow reader. It seemed really thin compared to prior novels, but good non the less.
See, I read through it very slowly, although I'm a fast reader. It seemed to take ages to reach the back cover.

Aint gonna lie, but Menedict Bias assault on the Capital was one of the most awesome things I've read in all of the books.

don't understand how you guys think it was the least imaginative.

It was EASILY the best written book out of all the Halo books.

The pacing was MAGNIFICENT and they story revealed so much interesting stuff about halo's past I was never bored and it's the first book I actually finished without taking a month reading break in a long time.

Nah, I like the original stories. The Fall of Reach-First Strike.

You like First Strike more than Ghosts of Onyx?
...
I guess FoR is arguable but of the original series Ghosts of Oynx is by far the most imaginative and has the best characters.

Honestly, the only book in the Halo series worse than Cryptum (and mind you, they aren't exactly the cream of the crop here) was The Cole Protocol.
See, I thought Cryptum was the best of the Halo books, because as you said, they aren't that special.

The writing in most of the Halo books is generally riddled with mistakes and lackluster in writing style.
Cryptum didn't have this.
I thought it was well-written, imaginative, and gripping; with a good plot.

The only standout feature of the other Halo books is the story that they collectively tell. The canon in them is great, but it's rather poorly pulled off. Cryptum has a great story, with great writing, and that bumps it to the top of my list.

While I agree it is better written than most of the Halo Novels, I do not agree that it's plot was gripping.

I had to force myself through the first hundred pages, and while it got better, I never found myself caring about ANY of the characters.
