Arrogant hyperbolic exclamations of woe? Seems like a normal day for Halo/Bungie.net.

Halo CE's single player campaign was way better, but the family Halo tournaments started with 2 and those were great fun.

Me, I liked Halo CE, for the reason of the campaign and all of its musical epicness. It felt like you were there. For multiplayer, me and my friends would system link 4 xboxs and play rocket fight on hang em high. Total chaos and fun! Capture the flag on blood gulch, shotgun fights on chiron, sniper fights in boarding action. It was trully one of the best times in my gaming experience.Halo 2 was allright for multiplayer matchmaking, but I think the only reason I didnt like it as much as Halo CE was because of the lag from my dial up, lol.

Halo 2 for Life!

It's really about if you like a multiplayer component to a game or not. As CE,H3,and Hreach had very bad MP, probably because they were based on the same ways of interacting with the environment (no auto assist or large hit boxes).

Also in H3 and Hreach they slowed those games down and this was a response to lag from online play to maintain accuracy and prevent jerky lag (which was replaced by slowing the game down which is a smooth type of lag).

I like MP that is actually fun so I choose Halo 2.

halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

One reason why Halo 2 beats Halo: Combat Evolved is because Halo 2 had xbox live multiplayer capabilities. If Halo Combat Evolved had xbox live multiplayer capabilities, it would have been a far more difficult choice to determine which was better.

I dis-agree even with XBL CE would have looked like H3 or Hreach. It didn't have large hit boxes or auto assist, CE would have had to slow down gameplay just like H3 and Hreach. CE was ment for single player and has countless flaws when it comes to online multi-player.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Halo 1 is faster then Halo 2, 3, and Reach, and has 0 hitboxes whatsoever. Instead, you need to have skill and lead your shots. Unlike Halo 2, where the shots can be 300 miles away and STILL hit.

UT99 also came out in 1999, has no hitboxes, works over Dial-UP, and is fast paced. There's no excuse for giant hitboxes.

The gameplay seemed faster. Then again, it's hard to tell. UT99, however, has very fast gameplay. You need to act fast to get kills.

Halo CE is clunky online:

Halo 2 online is not clunky:

It is fluid in it's motions and hit boxes and auto assists help it stay fluid without slow downs.

Halo 2 was laggy too. If you want fluid, try ut99. Rated M for not for 10 yr olds.

You act like bigger hit boxes and auto assist is a good thing.

Halo 2 for Life!

Large hit boxes and auto assist allowed for fast gameplay with no drop in accuracy for MP.

They have to slow down other halo's to make it even close to the same accuracy in H2 in their MP.

Therefore reducing the skill gap to be more noob friendly.

Too many times on XBC have I sniped a guy about 5 yards away from his head and get a headshot.

Where's the skill in that? I missed his head

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

Aim Assist...not Auto Assist.

Tottalymassive is a nut. He gets pwnd every time someone links this, so he has to find a reason for the hitboxes. He also canceled his live over h2.

Halo 2 takes no skill anyway, Xbox Live was the same way too. Most of the people in the reach forum who want it back never even played it.

Halo 2 was the ultimate online game when it came out and it's maps kills everything out there.

  • 03.13.2011 6:55 PM PDT

Tough decision...from a single-player standpoint I'm sure most everyone would agree that H:CE was far superior than any of the following Halo games (H2 had the weakest campaign; While H3 and Reach both had decent campaigns neither game compares to the level of sheer epicness that was H:CE)

In terms of Multiplayer...H:CE, while it didn't have an online component (because XBL hadn't even been announced yet!), had one of the most robust multiplayer engines on the market! I spent countless hours systeming linking with friends (and eventually on XBConnect)! However, this was a different period in the world of gaming...when friends would spend their friday nights all gathered around one (or 4) TV(s). Halo 2 is the game that really launched online gaming, up until that point XBL had been small and insignificant, but with its release came an explosion of gaming! Just like with Halo:CE, I played Halo 2 for countless hours, but this time without the hastle of driving to a buddies house or calling the gang! Because of its mere accessablitiy, H2 won me over and is still my favorite game to play (when my xbox worked...R.I.P)

Halo 2 for Life!

It takes more skill in Halo 2 as one has to think quickly and process information very quickly.

The increased speed of halo2 makes it much harder to aim, they compensated for this with aim assist and large hit boxes. It takes more skill in Halo 2 as things are happening much faster around one.

If you're fast enough to perform that type of snipe you should get that snipe.

It is way easier to slow down the game, makes everything easier not just aiming such as other halos. This makes the other halo games more predictable and less fun, also the environmental interactions are less realistic in their timing as they attempt to hide these issues.

I disagree, the H2 Campaign the is best. Legendary H3 and Reach are jokes and although CE was fun, it didn't take near the skill that Legendary H2 demands.

I'll easily agree that Halo 2's legendary is substantially more difficult than HCE's, but I'm extremely hesitant to say that it takes more skill.

For instance, suppose you're fighting elites with PP and BR. The elite has extremely high damage, but the PP has extreme homing at close range and the BR is extremely easy to headshot with. The end result is that what determines whether you live or die has a heck of a lot more to do with whether or not the elite got lucky enough to squeeze a few more shots off on you than usual than it has to do with any actual player skill.

Fights in HCE are usually easier, but they're much less dependant on twitch-luck, and you have to fight to land your kills. It's a substantially more deterministic game.
