Nice trolling bro. Get used to the fact that PC games are most of the time poorly improved console imports, it saves the developers a lot of time and money.
Anyways to fix the poor mouse coordination I would recommend running the game at either a low refresh rate or in a window, that will solve any "mouse lag" issues.
As you said your laptop is overheating while playing the game, really laptops only have a small vent and a 1-3 inch fan inside them, they are not good for cooling this is why people do not recommend playing video games on them, I would recommend you get a cooling pad and to game on a flat, leveled solid surface rather than playing a laptop on top of a blanket, bed, carpet, your uncles hairy back, etc.
You can run Crysis on your laptop yet the game overheats with Halo 2 Vista? Possibly turn down your video settings, or do the "oh so horrible" task of UNDERclocking your graphic cards GPU speed with the recommended overclocking tool, ex: ATI's CCC "ATI Overdrive" feature. This will allow your GPU to use less power and produce less heat without too much performance loss as long as you don't over underclock your card.
How much to underclock by? I would say about 20-50mhz depending on your GPU (DO NOT underclock the video memory (VRAM) as this can result in issues regarding blue screens, screen going grey, freeze ups and such, but should not do any damage to your laptop, only underclock the gpu, and do not underclock it by much.)
Underclocking sounds horrible because it may remove little performance, but will allow you to play much more stable for a longer amount of time.
I would also like to recommend closing any unneeded applications while gaming, that just puts more stress on your CPU and mostly ram, possible right click your halo 2 icon and going to properties, to disable visual themes that will disable the vista/windows 7 glass or Aero theme, this will use less GPU memory giving you a small boost. There is a free application called "GameBooster" that will do all of this for you.
