"Concise and devoid of elegance...what I have come to expect from human communication"-Endless Summer

What point is there to purple? I understand UNSC is greenish brown because they're a military...but why purple? Same goes for the Forerunners...but theirs makes sense, silver is the color of the alloy their things are made of and blue is the color of plasma/energy shields...but Covenant tech is purple?

Purple is a mans color!

No but seriously...I think it is because purple is the color of royalty. The Covenant may just have a nasty case of VANITY

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

It's a very royal colour.

Because it seems an alien-like colour. They could have blue and you'd ask the same question.

jason jones' favourite colour was purple, so they decided to go with that.

"Wort wort wort!"

The PROPHET items are purple, brute tech is still gray, the Prophets love showing off their purple royalness

I thought they had some religious reason for it? But regal color is what I will roll with

Why would the Covenant/Forerunner have thier military colours the same as ours? I think the answer is "Just because". I mean why is our stuff the colour it is?

Or either the material that they use is naturally that colour and they cannot be bothered to paint. Painting a 5km long Assault Carrier would be unbelievably boring and menial.

we are green or sandy-coloured because it helps a bit with camouflage

maybe the elite/prophet/jackle homeworlds were purple. i seem to remember grunt and hunter homeworlds being swamps

The Prophets and Elites actually decided for the Covenant to be red, but some Elite bled all over their final design.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Because Joseph Staten's favorite color is purple.

The covenant care not about passive camouflage, they can use active camo which is much more effective than the passive camo humans had ;). They use purple because it loos alienly and royal :)

  • 03.12.2011 5:38 PM PDT

It's not purple it's violet, and I think it suits them well.

Soon to be breaking news:

US Coast Guard prepares for massive rescue mission after Iranian fleet sinks off shore. Reports say a small thunderstorm caused most of the ships to simply...fall apart.

I thought that was Jason Jones' favorite color.

Here is a fun question.

After the Schism...why did the Elites make their Phantoms green, but kept their Ghosts (among other things) purple

Different cultures view different colours in different ways. You can't expect every intelligent being in the universe to have the exact same aesthetic views as humanity.

Good question....

the "Elites" didn't have time to "paint" their vehicles green...

It's the color of the metal they use.

I'd go with this.

I'd say the metal that they make their ships and tech from is just naturally purple.
Why not, we get yellow metals and allows (gold, brass etc.), perhaps they have an metal/alloy that's weirdly coloured.

Did the Separatists even have their own Ghosts in Halo 3? I didn't notice any belonging explicitly to the Elites :/

In a cinematic, after Lord Hood and Shipmaster talk, there is a scene where Johnson steals a Beam Rifle from an Elite, and the Arbiter steals a rocket launcher from a marine. One of the Elites is leaning on a Ghost. It was purple.

Perhaps they only like a little bit of green.

Oh yeah, haha, that Ghost XD Idk, maybe they just felt like making the Separatist Phantoms different, actually I think they might be an entirely different model, not entirely sure, as Halopedian has some images of Phantoms using active camo and it calls the Separatist.

Either royalty, or, more likely... camoflague. It's unlikely that covenant species perseive light and colour in the same way we do, purple might be a perfect colour to blend in with most backgrounds from their pov.

They probably look at us and think "wtf?! why are they in green? It stands out like a sore thumb"
