Subject: Would you dare use the Warthog in Modern war?

Man is born free but everywhere he is in chains.

Maybe a banshee, but not a warthog.

Sure, if it was the Gauss or Rocket varients, and that the 'Hog is constantly moving.

ATV's are not meant for open warfare, but as transportation. The OP is talking about entering actual combat.

it would probably move quicker in urban combat as it isent 7 feet wide(humvee) and doesent have a high center of gravity,(the ease of flipping the vehicle is a problem of game physics unless it weighed 1 ton it wouldent flip like that)

it also would be much easier to transport

It is also a deathtrap for the driver.

Cannot use of cover, completely exposed, and in tighter corridors. ATV's are the last thing you would want to get in Urban Combat.

talkin bout the warthog as for driver cover you wouldent need its not made for stand up warfare its made for taking out aircraft but works wonders if used in gurrila style warfare like the DPV[would need a way to keep the gunner from falling off tho :(]

Perhaps whoever designed the Warthog was willing to sacrifice the extra armor (doors, etc.) for manoueverability? Add to that the fact that UNSC marines typically wear extra armor, I think it would be fine, albeit vulnerable to IED's and flipping.

with rockets or a gauss cannon, yes.

Though the chaingun is officially a LAAG, it is also intended to be multi-purpose. It is for both light aircraft and infantry, while still being moderate successful for light armor.

ATV's, however, are striclty non-combattive.

Well, any vehicle of this class is vulnerable to infantry weapons to begin with.

I'm not sure how easily warthogs flip outside of gameplay. Anyway, I believe in contact harvest they comment on the lack of doors (Civilian versions have them). I think it was mostly for them to be easier to get in and out of.

Edit: Oh, if you look at the Tip of the Spear cutscene, the warthog hit actually is still intact and running, the main damage being that the gunner was flung off.

Why not?

  • 03.14.2011 4:04 PM PDT

If I were driving, yes.

If my allies were driving, hell no!

lol.

  • 03.14.2011 4:10 PM PDT

Me gusta

Honestly i would its very fast and you do realize that the driver and passenger are basically completely covered by the sidings? Spartans are much bigger then normal people so they sit higher.
