@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Not exactly. The only thing I can see affecting First Strike is Jun's presence, but he could get killed enrote to CASTLE Base. As for Ghosts of Onyx, it's still intact.

Halsey's Journal.

Halsey's Journal was an attempt to blend the two stories. Honestly, it didn't really work all that well.
*Shrugs* It mostly works for me.

Besides, why does everyone discredit that journal when it was also written by Nylund?

Anyways, there is multiple logistical problems with Reach falling in a day.

This.

I was wondering if anyone made an alternate timeline to counter balanance or blend Halo: Reach and The Fall of Reach by means of changing dates, disregarding information, or by other plot devices?

I wanted to know if it was fixable . Oh and also Books= Games.

this is the one I made. It's got a few plotholes, like the existence of Noble and all, but I think its a good balance.

  • 03.14.2011 5:25 PM PDT

I didn't get point across correctly I don't mean it broke the stuff related to it but it changes the feeling the book established aespecially concerning the secrecy of spartan 3's. What it did destroy is the story of Reach itself. Behind the main trilogy of games I consider it the 2nd most important Halo story

I did read your version of a re wrttien story for Halo Reach and I thought it was pretty dam good but I'm still trying to see a closer version to blend the game and novel mainly on the point of the Long Night of Solace Super Carrier happening in the blended universe

The other big plot issue with Halo Reach is the Covenant Super Carrier. If there are 20 Super Mac Cannons guarding reach why don't they attack it or the UNSC fleet. You can make the argument the fleets were elsewhere but Mac Stations don't leave ( that I know of). That is one of the main plot devices I liked in the game even if it didn't fit the canon
The planet is alrger than Earth. There is no way that a mere 20 SMAC's can protect everywhere.

  • 03.14.2011 5:33 PM PDT

I agree that the planetary defenses can't cover all areas of the planet but regardless the size of that carrier is massive I have trouble believing they simply sat there and did nothing

How so? Cryogenics can keep people in suspended animation for centuries. Being in one a little longer would not affect Linda's physical condition.

30 kilometers is nothing on a planetary scale.

The main thing with Coil/Rail Guns is that their trajectories are straight. A planet is a sphere. That would result in large gaps in aiming positions when there is only twenty.

I wasn't thinking of Linda surving when I said that I was just reffereing to all the issues brought up in the Fall of Reach Novel that the Game goes directly head to head with

youhave more then fair point on the SMACs but they can probably still move to some degree or follow orbit or rotate to adjust angles to fire. On top of that I think the UNSC would use a little more resources then 2 Spartans to try and take down a Super Carrier like using some of their fleet.

It wasn't that.

That Supercarrier would have the firepower of decimating any fleet. Hell, just 13 CCS-Class Crusiers and 2 Assault Carriers took out a rather large portion of the Home Fleet, even though the Home Fleet had hundreds of SMAC's as support. The option of blowing it up from the inside would be the more strategic option. Minimal casualties, maximum damage.

I just play for fun. MLG can kiss my ass.

I have not been able to come up with a blending of Reach and TFoR that would make most of it fit, I have failed in creativity.

Just think of it as I do: The events still happened, just on a different date.

  • 03.14.2011 6:01 PM PDT

chaniging a lot of the dates does take away a lot of errors

  • 03.14.2011 6:19 PM PDT

can someone explain how the Super Carrier got onto Reach in the first place undetected? like itd be pretty hard to believe no one detected any of it ( even using their eyes)

What exactly is canonically wrong with Reach?

I remember people foaming at the mouth about how the PoA was never groundside. It's been a while since I read TFoR but I don't remember anything specifically saying that she couldn't have gone back to land.

  • 03.14.2011 6:22 PM PDT

I can't quote it exactly but I remember at one point in the book Keyes explains that most warships of that size aren't able to fly in atmosphere and are built in space because of that. Any way canon wise that can be fixed easily by saying it was one of the "upgrades" the POA recieved before operation RedFlag

Those Spires show that they were dropped from a long distance. They are partially buried, have roasted sand around it, and that there is some human pipes protruding from underneath it and appears to have once connected to the pipeline hanging 30 feet in the air.

Auntie Dot has stated that they are producing electromagnetic cloaking shields.

With this evidence, I theorised that those towers were launched some distance away and landed on Reach. To the normal eye and scanners, they would appear as asteroids. From there, those towers enacted a cloaking field, where the Supercarrier simply swooped down into.

Another possible theory is that the Supercarrier is equipped with a cloaking system similar to that of Stealth Corvettes, which cloaks the ship from sensors and from the naked eye.

The Pheonix-Class Colony Ships would like to have a word with that statement.

  • 03.14.2011 6:27 PM PDT

you are correct ships that size can go in atmosphere but like I said a Halcyon class can't.

  • 03.14.2011 6:45 PM PDT

The first part of that is actually a really good idea. The second part if the Super Carrier had its own stealth system why wouldn't they use that more frequently or ever again?

  • 03.14.2011 6:47 PM PDT

But that wouldn't make sense.

The Pheonix-Class Colony Ships were first made 150-200 years prior to the first Halcyon-Class Cruiser. Not only that, but they are also more than twice their size.

Now, tell me, why wouldn't atmospheric rating be a standard when it comes to design, especialy since we hhave the know-how? It would be militarily insane not to have the said feature when you have the ability for it.
