I just had a thought.

How about, when users join, a ten minute period is given to them where they cannot post, or read the regular threads. They are taken to a page where there are only options to read the rules, or read the rules for each particular forum. Now clearly, for ten minutes, they are not going to want to just sit there, they are going to want to read something, so they will inevitabaly begin to read the rules, as well as the rules for the individual forums.

This will help in many ways. It will (hopefully) stop new users posting things on the wrong forums, it will ingrain the rules in a little better, and will cut down on new user geting flamed for making mistakes.

What do you dudes think? Could this happen?

I know if it was me, I'd skim through it for several minutes. But some people would just open up a new window and wait for the ten minutes. It would help though, too many people have to be directed towards the stickies.

And I didn't come straight to the forums when I got my membership so the ten minute thing would have little to no affect

What I meant was some way by which if you left while the countdown was still in progress, it would be reset. Also, if it was possible, it would be able to tell if you had actually read the rules, or something. Oh, I don't know. My computing knowledge goes about as far as typing.

yoo•zel- ('yoo-zhul): slang: vb.

Officium quod Fidelitas.

I think we just need to make the rules a little more simple. Not everyone wants to sit around and read a novel worth of rules, they want it short and sweet.

Ah hah.... an even better idea. Perhaps some sort of combination of ideas would be useful.

That was hilarious, and should get the message across to anyone who's just signed up.

I wonder if anyone will make a B.net version of that?

The rules should just read:

Don't be an idot, -blam!-, moron or retard. Mods will ban at their own discretion.

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

I never read the rules but I am not an idiot. You know what is/isn't accepted. You don't need rules to tell you what to say/what not to say. It's common sense.

ill go w/ stalin and bring it a step further... you cannot enter the forum unless you pass a test , a test on the rules. For that matter people will be forced to read.. and the impatient little kids who dont like that sorta stuff will not continue...

This is a very good idea, I like your thinking shortcut. We would be discriminating against no one, and only people who wanted to read and follow the rules would be allowed in. While idea could not be implemented now, perhaps in the future....

EDIT: Start using the preview button Stalin.......
