I pose this question to you… Do you know we do not get paid one penny to do this job? We are about as freelance as you can get other than importing illegal immigrants and sticking them in the broom closet and telling them to do stuff…
I would like to see where you think that we are out of control? I see plenty of topics pertaining to cheaters, modders and stand-bying… truth is they die off because they're all the same, not because we lock them. And the reason we lock them is because they usually become very absurd or the population begins to get out of control. You are really blowing this part out of proportion. We do limit some forms of discussion on this board but we do not actively participate in censorship and we only repeat official information given out from Bungie. We are normal people to, we play Halo 2, we get cheated, we get modded, we know first hand that cheating hasn’t disappeared, but we know that in time it’ll clear up. Also keep in mind you are not guaranteed the right to Free Speech on this forum and if you did read through the Code of Conduct that you’d realize that you do not have the right to post whatever you feel like, truth or untruth. (And as I look at Zanzibar I see a number of topics that are about cheating, solving cheating, modders, etc… a-typical stuff)
Locking off topic posts? Do you realize that it’s our job to keep the forums on topic? We do have an off topic forum, hence the Flood which you have chosen to post in. It’s our job to remove posts that are offensive, abusive and off topic in order to keep the peace in the forums.
If having your topic locked is not enough, the mods, in an attempt to further put down the poster and make themselves look perfect, will often post a short passage that goes directly with what the original poster complained about. for example the poster could complain about the frequency of cheaters and then the mod will lock it saying that cheaters were being reduced by millions at a time, saying that there are very few cheaters. Those types of obvlious responses to an obviously distraght person only further create more dislike of the mods in the general community.
Another great habit of the mods is locking posts and not leaving a reason why. I know that some of the posts which are locked are obvious infractions. However, not all of the locked posts' misgivings are as clear as day. If the goal of locking an inapproiate post is to deter people from breaking the rules, it is very contradictory to lock a thread without at least putting a one line response of what type of infraction was committed at least. Locking a thread before anybody even posts in it is a waste of the posters time, and a waste of the moderators time as well, as most infractions(the lesser ones) are committed by the same people, mostly for lack of knowledge of what they are doing wrong.
You contradict yourself here… first we post statistics and other little messages that are inaccurate? I do believe I addressed this in my opening. Yes we often time do not leave a message when locking threads, but do you realize that it’s a very small Moderating team vs thousands of users and posts each day? Remember, we’re not paid to show up each day, yet we do it. We don’t always have time to reply to every thread, though if you think about it long and hard you can insinuate why a thread was locked.
Ok locking threads before they have any replies… ok, so we’ll let the mad man babble on about complete garbage before removing it? There’s an idea, if a Moderator finds a topic that is in violation of the rules or Code of Conduct then they are allowed to lock it, hands down. Every Moderator operates well within their boundaries of the Code of Conduct and the directives that Bungie has given us.
As for blacklistings… there are rare occasions where a user may be blacklisted on accident, but the vast majority of the time a user is blacklisted for a very good purpose, it’s all apart of the learning curve. If you neglect to read the rules and the Code of Conduct that’s not our fault if you read through the CoC you’ll find that you are liable for your actions on Bungie.net, you cannot blame us because you earn yourself a reservation on the blacklist. Trust me, as a Moderator team we are much more lax than you think…
Now. The mods have a choice. recognize these erroneous tendancies of theirs and make bungie a better place for all, (including those who bend the rules), or lock this, blacklist me, and continue on is their cloud of oblivion.
Sure, I could blacklist you for making this topic, but I’m not, because you are trying to prove a point though I think it’s more slander or a personal vendetta than anything.
