There is a reason I am user ID 1 and my account creation date is before this site came online.

I know, having "cookie" in your name, you might be guilty by association.
However, on to the actual post. I don't think the moderators are over-zealous, and the only time I had a slightly different view then them, the moderator was nice enough to actually talk to me about it. <Thanks dmbfan!> Now, I've seen plenty of threads on here that are critical of Bungie that have not been locked. However most of the ones that have locked are usually running into the dangerous area of flame-wars. I think that the moderators do a fine job for the amount of work they do on a voluntary basis.

I don't think Halifax put that as a disclaimer, but merely so that people understood his connotation. Although I can't speak for him.

Wait to steal the show Stosh. Jerk.

Note: That was not meant to be inflammatory, and I respect Stosh and his...manly self. I only said that to show my jealousy over his awesome, destructive, and simply beautifully written response to the thread maker.

this is another problem. it doesn't affect me, because ill say whatever because im stupid most of the time but anyways. people must have some sort of fear of the mods if they put a disclaimer at the end of their posts. I know that most(like 12) of the mods are good and do a great job, excect some aren't. Halifax. for fear of those few, put a disclaimer on the end of his thought to avoid the wrath of those few over-eager mods

He did that as a joke =P

Considering the fact that it looks like you made a new name. You're Bypassing a Blacklist. In this case thats a bannable offence.

As for what you said about moderators, I think your opinion sucks. Oh an they aren't too "Over Zealous", What would this forum be like if they let things slide? A Horror!

If I can be honest for a moment. I am losing a lot of faith in our current moderators. I am noticing a lot more petty bannings for quite frankly, stupid reasons. I can see the reason for banning flamers, but why is it that they get banned for flaming once. Why do I see people taking a holiday just because they had an opinion that didn't match the mod's?

I mean, sure in most cases, there are reasons for blacklistings, but why do you focus on minor slip ups rather than just repeat offenders?

My opinion, temp me if it doesn't match yours.

Because flaming is against the rules. There is no preset flame limit you're allowed, there is no do something good and recieve one free ticket to flame something. If you are caught, you a dealt with.

I think the mods are pretty leniant actually. Seeing how the zanzibar population still holds pretty damn well, and we all know how much flaming and use of the prohibited words go on.

Done! Now who's up for some s'mores?

But now, in all seriousness, the mods do a great job. They devote their time and energy into making these forums better, and they deserve our utmost support and respect.

Anyone else willing to do that?

I am, and it seems that people feel the need to second guess every action of their regulating officials. People don't like being told what to do, or how to handle themselves. They don't like rules, or regulations. They think that they should be allowed to conduct themselves in whatever manner they want. However, things are not quite like that. True, you are allowed to conduct your behavior in whatever manner you see fit, but that doesn't mean that there won't be consequences for your actions. If someone has a problem with something that a moderator has done, they should PM the specific moderator and take up their problem with them. If they don't feel that that is going the way it should, they can PM Achronos himself, since I'm sure he will have final say on anything. According to the rules and regulations of B.net, any time someone flames they should be banned, since it is a bannable offense. Now, if the moderators were extremely strict, as the thread poster suggests, they there would be few people left on B.net. I know I would have got a little vacation once because a poster pissed me off, and I made the mistake of going after him. But, the mods talked it out with me, and they looked at my record, and said that it was not in my character, and let me go with a warning. Which I was greatly thankful for.
I'll just end with saying that if you have a problem with a specific mod, PM them, try to work it out reasonably. If that doesn't work, go up the ladder. And if that doesn't work, like people said, you have every right to walk away, you are under no agreement to be on B.net.

... OR the mods could continue trying to stop Flaming full stop.

Honestly, GMC... Thats one of the silliest ideas I've ever heard. You're complaining about a few set people who have always made good nice and helpful posts having too many powers to blacklist people, and now you're saying EVERYONE who makes a few good posts should be able to do that? You're contradicting yourself yet again. The whole premise of this thread was silly anyway. I just think you wanted attention.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Actually I would like to see a karma setup for the foums. You could get enough good karma to get discounts on Bungie merchendise. Like that Frankie bath towel showing him in his kilt standing over an air vent just like Marilyn Monroe.....wait did I just type that??? Oh crap I am typing everything I'm thinking....oh crap I gotta play it cool and nobody will notice.

So yeah I would love to see a karma system in place. Whew!!!

This is only slightly annoying me. [/sarcasm]

I'll bring up the point of being freelance again. No pay. We sit at our computers day in and day out preserving a (semi)peaceful atmosphere on the forums, and all you can do it say that we're out of control and overzealous? Our powers should be taken away?

If we swapped jobs - that's right, you and me, swapping jobs... You wouldn't want people to critizise your work, would you? If you sat here at this chair for as long as some of us do, giving up our free time to look after people who can't respect the rules of the forum... You wouldn't want to be told you're doing a bad job.

You've lost the freedom of an ignored existance in the forums where you can post as often as you please, throw away your own opinions (not that it's against the rules of the mods, but people say things like "He's a mod, and he's wrong! TAKE AWAY HIS POWERS!") and even make fun of people.

I make fun of people? A thread like this comes up. I post something stupid in the forum? People say my powers should be stripped because I said God half way through the post.

No longer are you innocent. People are looking for every which way reason to pick you apart and tell you how to do your job, when you sacrifice HOURS and HOURS of your own time to help these people and make the forums a better place.

I would give up my job just to be a normal member again, just so that I could bathe in the normality of it. No more poking, prodding, endless messaging, moaning complaining and threads that tell me I do a horrible job.

Frankly, this really -blam!- annoys me.
