Subject: Things that didn't make it.

No new games, catching up with the world, and filling it with the name of SpazDragon, the dragon with a spas-12.

How do you people feel about cut content from the games, would you have felt better leaving parts out or not?

Say for example: The Flood Juggernaut. Most people should know that it didn't make it in Halo 2.

To me, it would have been fun to kill a powerful, gargantuan monstrosity whilst dodging it flailing tentacles that kill in one swipe. Using rockets and shotguns dangerously close to the enemy and closely winning due the power of this Flood form.

It would have felt like a challenge, and fits me best because I like blowing up giant creatures. What' your opinion on cut content that you thought would have been cool to include in Halo?

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

It seems to me that the Spiker was going to be in Halo 2, and because Bungie didn't have time, they just said "Oh crap! Hey, I've got an idea! Plasma Rifle..make red... BRUTE WEAPON!!11!!!!1!!!one!!!11!". Seeing the Spiker in Halo 2 would have been fun.

I also would have loved to see the mission "Guardian" make it to Halo 3. (Originally the MP map Guardian was based off of a campaign mission, obviously cut)

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that in Reach's early production, we would have fought rebels from time to time. I think Innies would have made for great 3-way battles (Remember you vs flood vs covies in Halo 1?) and a more enthralling, enriching story.

Speaking of cut content from Halo 2: THREE FREAKING MISSIONS. That's heartbreaking. If Halo 2 is ever remade, those missions are a must, and they must follow the original plans of Bungie and play like a Halo 2 mission. So for those not in the know, the first mission was aboard a Covenant ship right after the Cairo Station mission with a team of ODST. It also served as the proper introduction to Miranda. Then follows Forerunner Tank right after Regret, and then the obvious last mission aboard the keyship.

I think they all partly made it into the game one way or another. For example the Kestrel made it into Halo as the Hornet (and sort of Falcon), and also made it into Ninja Gaiden.

Signatures are for squares.

Forerunner Tank.
Covenant Ship.
Mongoose in Halo 2(that allowed the driver to fire a duel wielable gun over the windshield.

The various boats that have been cut...

  • 03.16.2011 8:10 PM PDT

Ah yes, the boats, something that I was severely disappointed of their absence in Reach, even more considering what little it brought to Halo.

  • 03.16.2011 8:24 PM PDT

I am still hoping for the kestrel and the sharquoi to make an appearance to the future halo games.

Those two sounded very interesting to me.

I actually think the "Return to Sender" cutscene works a lot better than what the cut level would have been :/ But yeah, I'd love to see the other two, and having to fight your way off the Keyship would be really awesome, 'cause then Halo 2 would actually lead directly into Halo 3.

are there any links to cut material from halo games?

the portable halo looked great

Don't see anything good about Forerunner Tank, dark Forerunner corridors with Flood = yawn

Personally, I thought the cutscene was a bit too far-fetched and Hollywoody for my tastes.

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

Imagine going into the lair of the gravemind at illusive speeds while being attacked by mysterious tentacles and infected creatures.

Awesomeness would ensue.

i think a special feature should be in all games that tell you all things cut, and all things that were ever shot down or suggested. (especially when it comes to mortal kombat fatalites) i think these would make people know what whacky things game makers come up with but realize, "wait a minute thats too over the top"

  • 03.17.2011 10:57 AM PDT

Space combat should have made it to Reach's matchmaking.

  • 03.17.2011 1:39 PM PDT

Flood Juggernaut

The Engineers appearing so late in the franchise, and even worse, not part of the original trilogy.

Covenant Ship

Forerunner Tank

Guardian Campaign level

  • 03.17.2011 1:59 PM PDT

Alot of cool vehicles were cut from Halo: Wars that would really work in the campaign.

A SCARAB, seriously i wouldn't mind waiting a few more weeks for the release if i knew that i would be able to DRIVE A SCARAB in Reach's campaign.

I'll have the roast duck . . . with the mango salsa.

I remember reading an EGM article prior to H2 being released. It said the article writer saw footage of an early level in the game where you were defending earth. You had multiple paths to choose from to get to a goal. That goal was a massive land battle. If you went one way you would run into snipers say funny stuff, if you went another you never saw them. Also, something at the end about sending down "shield ships" to block the glassing process. I think that made it into a book at least.

boats would be amazing for forge world. also it would make a much more original way of transportation for the sword base mission.

Hmmm... further reinforces my point that the engine sucks. Bungie tried so many things like boats, driving scarabs, massive battles, massive space fights, multiple battles at the same time, but never pulled any of them off. The only special thing they manage to pull off was the H3 scarab fights, regardless of all they tried, they always ended up making the almost same things. The next Halo game really needs a brand new engine, not retooled, brand, brand new.

apparently reach had more art work than the whole trilogy combined. I wish they actually made the campaign more interesting scenes and architecture.

  • 03.17.2011 3:17 PM PDT

I laugh at your pitifall attempts to defeat me!

Yeah, it's a bit depressing to hear, and read, promising cut material. Reach's cut level following New Alexandria would have been very welcome. Even if you didn't drive a Scarab, to at least proceed through the obliterated city, just after the death of a comrade as well, would have been quite a raw experience. The music could be very sombre, and one of the AI would carry Kat.

That's a very good idea. If they did develop remakes of Halo 1 and 2, they should include cut levels, enemies and so on.

Life is just a dream.

I heard there was going to be Firefight mode from the Elites perspective. You fight waves of Marines, ODST's, SPARTANS, Scorpions, Warthogs and the like. Would have been super fun.

That would be cool, but it would make Spartans less special. I think taking the Spartans away (except in Vs Firefight) would be better.

Until -blam!- Red Team from Halo Wars shows up and "back flips" you into a teammate...actually fun.
