Ok well I have and Averatic laptop. When I boot up halo it says your video drivers are not sufficient enough. But sometimes if i lower my ram by opening halo when my comp starts or sometimes opening other programs, I can play with -blam!- graphics but It still works. So is there any programs you can use to trick halo to think your PC has less ram?

Have you updated your drivers? If that don't help I'm sure someone here can.

Good Luck

Eh? We need tech specs, please! How much RAM do you have exactly? Processor? What the error message says, word-for-word?

I suggest shutting down all other unecessary apps programs before starting a RAM-consuming game like Halo (or Half Life 2). A technique a friend taught me is to close almost everything on the little taskbar and the taskbar's Tray. This includes miscellaneous programs like printer drivers, ipod helpers, etc, etc. Make sure everything but the barebones processes are running. If that's still not enough, you could try hitting Ctrl-Alt-Del and deleting those unecessary processes (CAVEAT: AS LONG AS YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING!!!).

Well halo says my video card isn't compatible, but if i run halo on startup I can bypass the video card message by a message that says I don't have sufficient proccessor speed. When that happens I can get into halo and it runs "fine". Only problem is that all the skins are all white for some reason, like the MC armor and the different color covenant. But besides that it doesn't lag or have any other problems. So is there a way to make halo think you have less processor speed than your computer actually has?

why would you want to do that? how good is your video card? if it is 64mb+ then just ignore it because it can run fine except its probably from a company that halo doesnt support ex: intel. if you have a 64mb intel it says its below requirements but it would run halo good. i have a 128mb intel and everytime it says that but it realy doesnt matter. but if your video card is 32mb- then run it in safe mode.

Wait. Hold up. You said distinctly in your first post that you wanted the computer to think you had more RAM. And before, you mentioned that Halo didn't like the Video Card you had. And now you say that you want to make the computer run faster with its current processor. Make up your mind, and please apply the CORRECT terms to your next tech question. RAM, processors and Video cards are three distinct, seperate parts of the computer. Now then, which part doesn't agree with halo?

Ok the video card I Have in my laptop is a S3 Prosavage with 32mb. When i start up halo it won't work because it recognizes my video is not good enough, after the first message shown, a second one is and then it won't run. If i run halo at startup sometimes it works because it recognizes my 1300 megahertz processor as a 420 megahertz or sometimes a lower processor. When it realizes the processor it bypasses the video card so i can play Halo anyway. So if theres a program that temporarily lowers your processor speed or makes your computer think you have less processor speed then I can play Halo.

Try putting -useff in your target line.

cough

First things first; your drivers need to be updated. Check out tip #6 for lowering halos requirments (with 32mb card, i reccomend going straight to useff), #7 for cutting everything else back, and #8 if all else fails.

Biggest thing: running any program with the bare minimum system requirments=poor performance. Consider getting a new video card installed on your laptop. If the white MC is a problem (which it is in multiplayer) then you need to talk to someone else in here with a link in his sig titled "I can see the colors". Been a while since I was here, so I don't remember who that is exactly. the white MC and NPCs are a glitch with Intel based integrated graphics drivers. Your S3 must run ont eh same or simular driver style since you have the same problem. Hopefully, they will have the same solution.

Good luck

If the manufacturer says its impossible, then it probably is. But not always the case with all laptops; newer laptops are as upgradable as a desktops including processor, video and sound cars, RAM and hard drives. Most computer repair shops can do an install when upgrading parts is possible.
