Click for a performance graph of current desktop proccesors.

The 'scores' were calculated by averaging out the FPS each CPU attained in UT2K4, Far Cry, and Doom 3. This provided a wide sample of the OpenGL, DX8, and DX9 environments. The average FPS was then multiplied by .1 for simplicity's sake. The scores are rounded to the nearest tenth of a decimal.

The tests, which were obtained from THG, utilized 2GB of RAM at stock system speeds, one 7800GTX 512MB, etc - basically, the only differences were the motherboards and sockets, and this of course cannot be avoided.

Keep in mind that this is gaming performance only - nothing related to multimedia work has been considered.

I'd actually rather have the dual-core, than the FX model.

Dual-Core...IS THE FUTURE!
