Subject: The Flood will fall

I'll be on my own side.

Let's not let this spiral into flaming over who's lame or not.

I do agree with buffalo, though.

Why would they take it out? It's the only forum where people can go and talk about whatever they want. Anything off topic can basically go there. If they take that forum out then people will spam and -blam!- about it in other forums which will make b.net worse.

Sorry if this has already been said, I didn't read through every reply. I was gonna make a new topic for this, but I saw this thread. I think that they could do one of these:

-Make a new forum for Serious Discussion. Look at the Ctrl+Alt+Del forums, one forum for serious, and one for not so serious stuff. They could also replace a forum that doesn't get very much attention to be used as a new one for serious discussion.

-Clean up The Flood. Rather than the forum purpose being "Post your stupid stuff here." It should be for miscellaneous/serious discussion. I've seen many people defend themselves by saying that they're stupid topic is ok there because it's meant for stupid things.

EDIT: For clarification.

I would endorse a forum for serious and non-serious discussions. But the serious one would need almost Martial Law-like regulation to stay clean.

I'll be on my own side.

If it were implemented, there would probably be more mods hired to handle it.

Ehhh. The ammount of moderators we have right now is just fine. They really dont need more if you think about it. The Flood is out of control, the moderators are doing a great job at keeping the craziness at a minimum.

Well, for a serious topic forum, it would have to moderated pretty regularly to keep the order. Order meaning no spammers, flame wars, no Halo topics. I'm sure the mods can handle, but it would make it easier on the mods, especially with the impending announcement on Bungie's new project.

That is very true. We can also help on that. We have sooo many moderators and we can help by giving them links to bad threads or by telling them of anything bad. This community really needs to work together and help it become a stronger and more efficient place to have fun. But yeah, you are right about the announcement part. There will deffinately be more visitors once Bungie announces their next project.

Of course, there are many things that this community can do to be better overall. But, considering how many morons we have here, it suddenly seems unreasonable.

Bungie's next project will cause an uproar. That's when we really need to help the mods out.

If the next project is not Halo 3, Bungie will be in hell.

Halo 3, Pimps, whatever it may be, it will cause an uproar. It will probably be a mixture of people screaming in joy, people screaming in rage, people trying to tell others to shut up, and the mods in the center of it all, banning people left and right. Better grab the spare Banhammers.

I dread the day that Pimps at Sea is released. It will be forum hell like nobody has seen before.

  • 01.01.2006 4:50 AM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

Like I said, it doesn't really matter what game it is, because people will hate it, love it, and/or try to shut everyone else up.

It will be pure chaos for a few days.

Remember the ILB thread?! I sure do! God it will be another one of those times where Shishka sits down, drinks his own volume in rum and genocides half the forum.

I will be there, watching, as I did for Halo 2 as the forums flood gates open to the masses of 'common folk' and the forums will degrade into a Halo/Pimps conspiracy pit.

My point is, the forums are always changing and sooner or later Shishka will smite your head wide open.

Well Maka blacklisted 40 members one time. The flood was destroyed for a week.

That was after the massive post pyramid I recall. Everyone quoted the guy before them for no reason.

I thought what he did was great. He put down all the idiots and didn't let that thread get out of control. Its a shame I never see him on b.net or XBL as much as I used to.

Besides, if people really want to goof around, they could always use a group instead of the public forums.

Skoolz I think. >.<

I thought the legendary blacklist was kind of funny. Showed the spammers who was boss.

Another thing about The Flood, I can't find the same topic twice to save my life. By the time I reply and go back to the topic page, that topic has been bumped back to page 2345 to be lost forever. The Flood is a fitting name for that forum, the irony kills me.

I think the problem could be solved by something that I know has been talked about before, a search engine for threads/topics. A lot of the recreated topics would be limited to one thread, after everyone learns how to use the search function, of course.

But I do think it is importnat to have an off-topic forum in b.net. Without it The Flood will expand to other forums and make a huge mess. I try to stay away from The Flood as much as possilbe unless there is a topic that I absolutely can not stay away from, such as the current Music Thread.
