Did all of the spartans, have master chiefs armor or did they really have there own.

Friends before pixels.

For the most part, they had the normal MARK IV or V (MARK V was Halo 1, MARK IV was MARK V except it didn't have shields).

They had small color differences, but nothing customizable like in the game's multiplayer, or Noble's. I have no idea why Bungie had them have that much difference in armor (other than to distinguish them from each other).

Spartan 3's had SPI armor which was a cut-down version of Mark VI, but it had the Pilot Helmet.

That is SPI armor, it's more of an upgraded ODST suit then a down-graded MJOLNIR armor.

Concerning Noble Team's MJOLNIR, they probably had more specialized pieces due to being a 'spec-ops' squad operating from ONI/army.

Spartan IIs mainly had the default (standard Mark IV, V or VI) armour, but I think occasionally they would change to variants that suited them better. I am pretty sure Grey Team had their own variant of Mark IV.

All Spartans were spec-ops. In fact they were all the most secretive special forces available to the UNSC. NOBLE team had modified armor because they added pieces that they wanted without permission. As for NOBLE team being colorful it is possible that the army wanted their best soldiers as colorful as possible so that they would draw incoming fire. They also wanted to make sure that on stealth missions they would be seen to make sure that the player gets to see enough shooting.

Black, blue, and normal Spartan green is colorful?

The green is fine, but red, orange and various shades of normal to light blue are all colors that are not worn by soldiers trying to stay hidden.

Fun fact: Ninja's actually wore blue to remain hidden. Seemed to work pretty good IRL. Seemed to work in the campaign too.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Spartan-IIs all had the same armor, Spartan-IIIs did not.

Navy blue works well to stay hidden, especially at night. It is also used by navy SEALs. Kat's teal does not help one stay hidden.

A: Who says Noble Team is a stealth team?
B: Who said Noble Team got those pieces on their armor 'without permission' I figure it would take permission seeing as those armor pieces can't be made in somebody's backyard.

She never really fought at night or anywhere requiring her to be hidden.

It seems that the team splits apart from mission to mission. Stealth required? Jun is sent in. An Assault? Jorge and Emile.

A: Who says Noble Team is a stealth team?

A commando team with an intelligence specialist, sniper and a CQB specialist. That's pretty much the definition of a covert team. Not to mention that Spartan IIs and especaill Spartan IIIs were trained as covert soldiers.
B: Who said Noble Team got those pieces on their armor 'without permission' I figure it would take permission seeing as those armor pieces can't be made in somebody's backyard.
I took this from Halsey's reaction to Jorge's armor, as well as the haphazard nature of the modifications. I doubt that there was one officer that would like Emile scratching a skull on his very expensive helmet.

You see Kat working in the tower on New Alexandria. It is safe to assume that a Spartan working can involve fighting. This is one of only two night missions in the campaign. It is also mentioned that NOBLE team wants to keep a low profile in Winter Contingency.

Well, A: yeah, that is true, though not always were they working in complete stealth.

B: I believe Halsey's Reaction is because she was around when they got the Mark IV, so she knew where he got his armor from.
As for Emile's helm, that one I'll give you, I believe he was allowed to keep it simply due to the cost it would take to replace the helm, and that the carving didn't affect his effectiveness at all.

  • 03.17.2011 10:41 PM PDT

Spartan II's would have had Mk IV, V and VI with some difference, it is thought that for instance Linda would have had a different Helmet possibly Scout whereas John had the standard armour as he was an all rounder. In First strike Halsey applies upgrades to the Mk V system usinf prototype parts.

I think Nobles colors was because most of them were from different teams. Each team had its own color scheme. Carter and Kat are the only original Noble members so they share the same teal with white stripes colors. And everyone else were probably transferred in when their original teams were wiped out.

Maybe that was Bungie's idea when they made the game, and it was probably just to help you tell them apart, but as I said above, the idea of rainbow soldiers is stupid. Spartan teams needed to be able to stay hidden, especially when they were working behind enemy lines. The colors of NOBLE are not very useful in such an endeavor (with the exception of Jun's green).

  • 03.19.2011 8:22 AM PDT

Again, to be honest we haven't heard that Noble was assigned 'stealthy' missions mostly. Even then it's hard to be truly stealthy when in MJONLIR.

In my defense, most of NOBLE's background is speculation. We know that NOBLE works for SPECWARCOM, which is a special forces group. This, and the other Spartans tendency to take place in stealth missions makes NOBLE seem like a covert team, at least some of the time.

In addition to that Winter Contingency, Nightfall, LNoS, The Package and The Pillar of Autumn all had some stealth elements (implied or gameplay). If half of the missions in a game involve stealth then it's a safe conclusion that NOBLE took place in stealth missions before the game.

Most of Blue Team wore the same type of armor. Spartan III's wore SPI armor. The customization of Spartans in multiplayer, and now in Reach's campaign was more of an aesthetic choice to make the player feel more involved.
