Hosni Mubarak in hospital after 'heart attack'

I'd have a heart attack too if my country was trying to kill me.

The rebels have forced back both the western and southern advances from Gaddafi forces in Misurata

Very nice news. Now if the Rebels could push westward along the main front....

In Bahrain News:

One Bahraini national and two Iranian nationals were accused by the Bahraini High Court of providing military and economic information to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards between 2002 and April 2010, with "the intention of harming the national interests of the country". The court has adjourned the case until April 20.

Iranian member of parliament Ruhollah Hosseinian said that the Islamic Republic should dispatch its military forces to Bahrain.

The daughter of prominent activist Abdulhadi al-Khawaja, Zainab al-Khawaja, announced on her blog in a letter addressed to President Barack Obama that she will not eat until her father is released, along with her husband, brother-in-law and uncle.

The first two points are really interesting and show the rising tensions between Iran and Sunni governments.

I forget if this was mentioned but in Yemen there have been protests in the Capital and another city with security forces firing on protestors with live rounds.

  • 04.12.2011 4:44 PM PDT

it is now apparent that the EU will use military forces if a UN resolution is passed to support humanitarian aid and protect refugees

If that happened I'd be more concerned about the lead-up to WWIII. Saudi Arabia would declare war if Iran attempted military intervention in Bahrain (where Saudi led GCC troops are already intervening).

fact of the matter is, UN wont be able to do -Blam!- here

  • 04.12.2011 5:28 PM PDT

No they wont. The Gulf states have already intervened so unless they pull out and ask for UN involvement then the UN doesn't really have the jurisdiction to intervene.

Rest assured though, the Saudi coalition would much rather have UN intervention than Iranian intervention. But right now it's up to the Bahraini people.

"Circassians of the Caucasus" were the people who were forced to flee their homes when the Tsarist Military started to push for expansion into the North Caucasus region. They people who fled were accepted as refugees by Libya until the collapse of the Tsarist regime.

They see that their fighting support would be a repayment of their debt.

They live in Libya? Wouldnt they have seen what the gaddafi regime is doing?
LIVED, not live, they were there until the collapse of the Tsarist regime in Russia, before moving home.

Sorry for the mistake. This could be difficult, as NATO probably wouldnt use airstrikes on these people

This is bad, REAL BAD!
But on all seriousness, what if Russia sides with Libya?

  • 04.12.2011 6:43 PM PDT

unlikely, they are against the whole thing

  • 04.12.2011 6:55 PM PDT

Russia was the country that wanted them out in the first place. I don't think they give a damn.

France and England wan't the United States to be at the front line of NATO strike missions again

not sure why they are pushing for that, probably has to do with elections happening so soon to right now. often the way to win votes is 'spend less on war'

that said, i haven't heard that at all, and the US won't do it.

Major fight near Ajdabiya. over 100 rebel vehicles have moved to the front line to hold off an offensive.

NATO is in talks about further military action, specifically ground intervention by White helmets.

In Qatar a trust fund has been set up to finance the Rebel army

In Cario, political talks are being had to try and resolve the fighting.

In Tripoli, state television is showing Gaddafi driving through the city, apparently during an air raid by NATO, there is no smoke or explosions occurring in the recording. However there were 4 large sets of explosions heard by Al Jazeera reporters earlier today in Tripoli and multiple columns of smoke rising.

France says they are hesitant to give the rebels weapons directly as they fear Gaddafi may capture some and use them against the civilian population.

No one should give the rebels weapons, it's just a bad idea. I have a feeling any weapons given to them could/will end up in the Talibans hands.

why the Taliban? you realize that the Taliban is only in the middle east and is a separate organization from al-Qeada? al-Qeada is all over, the Taliban is the displaced Government organization that ran Afghanistan prior to 2001. al-Qeada, while holding close ties to the Taliban is not the Taliban

also the Rebels are Pro-Democracy. The Taliban are very Anti-Democracy. they are polar opposites.
