This is great news. Hopefully it shouldn't take long for the country to become a multi-party democracy.

really not much for news today guys, things seem to be holding to the status quo.

The front near Ajdabiya has been quiet for 3 days with no advances by either side, and no direct combat either.

Rebel scouts are reporting that Gaddafi troops are fighting themselves inside the town of Brega, with the sounds of combat very prominent there even with no rebel troops in the town.

UN advisers have reported to the UN saying they have personally witnessed war crimes being committed by Gaddafi forces, citing 'Deliberate Targeting of Medical Facilities' and 'Use of Cluster Munitions on Populated Areas.'

The UN will meet to discuss a referendum to resolution 1973 to allow direct action on the ground. Despite this Obama has said that while he supports Canada and the European countries who are readying troops the US will NOT deploy any ground forces.

Rebels say that if then referendum to allow UN troops on the ground in Libya is passed they will welcome them to protect populated areas and areas under rebel control, they do not want them on the front line helping with the push into areas like Brega. They are saying the advances need to be theirs to make this a Libyan victory, where they need the help is in defences, like Misurata, and areas like the City of Ajdabiya itself. this way they rebels can focus on an advance without having to worry about loosing ground to Gaddafi forces who go around their advancing lines.

well, Gaddafi's military is falling apart then

i agree with UN/NATO troops in forms of defensive deployments, The rebels know what is best here.

the United States should have troops that are closest to Libya with the USS Bataan's battle group, which should have at-least 2600 Marines on all 3 of the ships in the group. thats assuming it deployed with their full compliment of Marines on each ship.

There's the catch that the US said that no american troops will put boots on the ground regardless of the UN's decision. That said they will support other countries who may do so.

Hopefully the large amount of detectors and the significant UN presence will convince Gaddafi he should step down.
If not, I am not concerned that Gaddafi will win against the Rebels. They have started fighting back, and they will keep fighting back until Gaddafi is gone.
