I'm proud of you Flood, I thought this thread would die after maybe 10 responses and i would have considered that a success for informing just those 10 people about a major world event. Never did I think that the Flood would be so truly dedicated to what happens outside of their lives. You show there is truly hope for humanity!

Quick summary of the last week:
For the most part it was quiet this week on the end of Ajdabiya and Brega, they've been holding at a stalemate that the Rebels are using as time to train, and retrain soldiers now that Canada, Britain, France and Qatar have sent or repurposed(in the case of Canada and Britain) small teams on the ground in Libya to act as military advisers to the rebels.

on the Western side of Libya a group of Rebels From Zintan pushed north west and Captured the Libyan/Tunisian boarder allowing Tunisian aid to come into the country. Qatar is now using this as a gateway to help the Rebels set up a forward command there. This victory puts the Rebels surrounding Gaddafi territory on 3 sides and the fourth being blockaded by the NATO fleet.

In Misurata, Gaddafi forces have been pushed out of the city proper and into a small section of the western suburbs, while this effectively breaks the siege and opens roads to Benghazi if the rebels take Brega and Sirte, The artillery positions to the west have started bombarding the city more intensely than has been seen yet.

NATO has decided to extend their targets to attack Gaddafi Telecommunications equipment to stop them from effectively communicating with the front line and coordinating attacks.

Britain has circumvented the arms embargo and started supplying the rebels with body armour and rations rather than weapons. Qatar is also supplying them with digital camouflage uniforms.

Tripoli is now being targeted by NATO again as Gaddafi has unveiled a large number of AAA sites that were previously hidden. there has been constant AAA fire over the city for the past couple of days.

The US has given predator drones to NATO that have been used as strike craft against Gaddafi forces inside of cities due to their enhanced manoeuvrability over a fighter craft.

2 Canadian CF-18s destroyed 24 vehicles and disabled at least another 12 yesterday in Brega, While British, French and Canadian planes bombed retreating Gaddafi armour outside of Misurata.

I saw recon photos, there's also a bunch of these all over the place.

aren't those more suited to shoot down helicopters rather then aircraft?

also, a man tried hijacking a jet from Paris to Rome, he tried to re route it to Tripoli but was subdued by Flight Attendants Source

Some good news from Misurata. The city received a much needed supply of aid with the arrival of a ship chartered by the World Food Programme.

Humanitarian supplies, including food, medical supplies and three fully working ambulances, were lifted off the WFP ship on Saturday, upon its arrival at the port of the battle-torn, opposition-held city.

One of the ambulances was given courtesy of the Maltese government and the additional two were bought from the UK by the Libyan Non-governmental organisation called 'I-go'.

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's office in his immense Tripoli residence was destroyed in an air strike early Monday. Gadaffi was not there.

Lol he may not have been the target. NATO has been hitting important centers of intelligence in Tripoli, this may have just been another target. It could also be they want to send a message to Gadaffi, they can strike anywhere, anytime.

Or they may have missed him. But I don't think they're trying to to kill him.

Don't we have Pred missiles all around that area?

NATO has decided to extend their targets to attack Gaddafi Telecommunications equipment to stop them from effectively communicating with the front line and coordinating attacks. Cut off enemy intelligence lines... good tactic.

Qatar is also supplying them with digital camouflage uniforms. What are these?

I'm starting to feel a bit sorry for the average grunt in Ghaddafi's army. seems like they barely know what's going on.

The cake is a pie

I liked what the pope said on easter, about how arms should be replaced with negotiation.

Dammit Gadaffi, why can't you just listen.

That's what I said yesterday. The OP and some other guys came to the conclusion that many of these grunts could be just making excuses, and also that the death of 1 innocent grunt is more acceptable than the 10 innocent civilians they might have killed.

Hmm, didn't know that it was a Canadian invention for soldiers to use untill I read this. It's also worth noting that some types like CADPAT will disrupt thermal imaging

Lol not really. Then again looking back in history all the important guys some how avoid devastating airstikes that are sent to kill them when they have no warning.

It would literally be a freak accident that we do hit him.

Gaddafi knows that we can hit any important government buildings. Thats why he is probably hiding out in some civilian area which we are unlikely to bomb.
He isnt so stupid as to stay in big obvious targets for NATO

  • 04.25.2011 12:33 PM PDT

i also think they said the Rebels cant ship oil for another 4 weeks, cant find the source though

Italy is now contributing strike aircraft to NATO, this is a change from their old policy of just contributing airbases
