alrighty, I'm back, The elections in my country are over and hence i can turn my attention back to the events in Libya.

sorry I was gone so long, but my interest in what happens in my country still out weighs that in others, I hope you understand.

That said, the conservatives won a majority government here, for the first time in 20 years we have a majority parliament. as the Torries won, you can expect to see further Canadian support in Libya coming through soon.

The ICC(International Criminal Court) is expected to issue 5 different warrants for Crimes Against Humanity, to Libyan Leaders.

Fighting on the Tunisian boarder has heated up, and the Rebels suspect NATO is trying to allow Gaddafi forces to enter Tunisia as to change the Rules of Engagement. If this happens NATO would have the go ahead to put troops on the ground and fully mobilize against Gaddafi forces, as they would be invading a country AND attacking civilians in their own country.

Ok, cleaned up the OP, got rid of all the old info and replaced it with updates from the last day or so, and updated the links.

Sorry again for this falling into disarray over the past week.

Roughly how many tanks and military targets a day are being destroyed by NATO in Libya?

If it is alot, then the stalemate will only end with the rebels winning

Armour wise not sure, it varies. There have been days with upwards of 24 armored vehicles being destroyed by NATO and days with no reports.

  • 05.03.2011 12:27 PM PDT

Why haven't the Rebels tried a new offensive in the East? Hasn't NATO degraded loyalist forces enough to attempt a push? With Misurata's port down it's imperative to start advancing.

it might come down to them wanting to fully establish Benghazi as a base. not sure why they never went through with the advance they had planned though.

A car bomb went off in Benghazi last night, the man responsible was shot in the leg trying to escape, was captured and told the rebels that they were being paid by Gaddafi. He is now being treated for his wounds. Nobody was seriously hurt.

The Libyan Government said that there is no amnesty for Rebels who would lay down their arms and surrender. Their punishment is death.

The ICC has announced it will pursue 3 warrants for 5 crimes against humanity. They are also investigating the allegations of civilians being killed when suspected of being mercenaries. The crimes committed include: Mass Murder, Unlawful Detention, Use of Cluster Munitions, -blam!- as a Weapon of Fear. The ICC is yet to publicly name who the warrants are for, but said no Libyan Leaders would be given amnesty for their crimes.

NATO said that the death of Gaddafi's son in a air raid on Tripoli was not the intent of the attack, but rather collateral damage. They are making no effort to kill Gaddafi or his family participating in the campaign, but are not going to avoid targets simply because they are there.

Massive and intense airstrikes outside of Misurata have stopped the shelling of the port and allowed aid ships to move in. There are still drifting mines suspected to be in the port area.

The coalition is planing on securing $3billion in funds for the rebels to use for supplies and salaries of their government and new found army.

The HMS Liverpool is now firing 25 rounds a minute from 27 km away at Gaddafi forces outside of Misurata for 24 hours a day from it's 4.5 inch cannon. This coming from a Royal Navy spokesperson.

it's a moral breaker. Think about your mental state if there was an explosion in your ranks every 2 seconds. Your moral would drop substantially and you'd run.

Run? I think I would cap myself. I don't want to be on the wrong end of a Royal Navy ship, period.

the incident that video is talking about is sparking talks about using military ships to deliver aid. The Captain was panicking under fire from loyalist ships and it went awry. Using military ships will keep things more orderly and organized.
