Some news from last night:
Benghazi has officially opened a uniformed police department. The al Jazeera blog has a picture of the first 'class' of officers
The Canadian HMCS Charlottetown and a British ship came under fire from a swarm of about 30 loyalist fast attack craft near Misurata. The Loyalist forces were forced back to shore with no NATO casualties.
When the ICC arrest warrant goes through for Gaddafi at the end of the month, Canadian forces stationed in Tunisia will be ordered under legal obligation to move in and apprehend Gaddafi, with the full legal and military support of the coalition and the rebels. If Gaddafi flees, other countries will be obligated to arrest him and turn him over to the ICC.
In Misurata the Rebels have taken over the airbase, and have pushed out of the city about 20 km east, 12 km south and approx 35km west. Gaddafi artillery still manages to shell the port area.
In an interesting development in pre-revolution Gaddafi policy, the Libyan Government was trying to convince the African union to only sell oil for gold rather than for dollars or Euros like it currently is traded in. This would have effectively made the African Union the Richest countries in the world when it came to energy, and would collapse the north american, european and asian economies.
The Transitional National Council asks that western powers remember that the Libyan people started to fight AFTER they were fired upon, not before.
Gaddafi forces are apparently looting smaller towns where they are stationed like the town of Yefren
Four French nationals were stopped by a police checkpoint in Benghazi, one man was shot and died. The French government is investigating as to why these people were even in Libya, as they were not reporters and did not have Libyan visas.
The Rebels say that at least 11,000 people have died in the past 10 weeks of fighting.
Russia said they will veto any UN intervention in Syria, telling the Syrian opposition not to expect a repeat of a 'Libyan Scenario'
The Rebels have fully secured the western mountain range in Libya, they have dug in and set up high elevation outposts to watch and track Gaddafi forces, which they report to NATO.
A Catholic Bishop in Tripoli tells Reuters that Gaddafi has left Tripoli and was wounded by a NATO airstrike. The Gaddafi Government denies this saying that claims of Gaddafi being wounded are 'ridiculous'
Italy agrees that Gaddafi may have left Tripoli with the sudden advance of Misuratan rebels towards the city, and the introduction of Rebel cells in Tripoli, but does not think he will flee the country.
