Canada's intelligence agency CSIS has put a block on all further information on the Canadian contribution to the Libyan Campaign, citing "the mosaic effect" and how it could affect future 'special service operations'

This statement was made just after a report was released saying that the 8 Canadian CF-18s currently in Libya have been dropping an average of 1,300 bombs a week since the beginning of the UN intervention.

The Mosaic Effect is where an enemy can use very small useless pieces of intelligence together with each other to accurately predict the movements of your forces and how plans can come together without any direct knowledge of the operation.

i'm just posting this one to see if i'm the only one wondering WHY NATO should let this group do its thing right now.

Well I guess they feel that even in war we should remember other issues as well.

Plus they informed NATO, and it would be bad press to send the ships away.

That's a smart thing to do, I hadn't even heard of the Mosaic Effect. I'm surprised they even gave the info on their special forces in the region.

On a related note: 1,300 bombs a week? Dam, that's a lot of firepower. And that's just from the Canadians too!

Because Canada has no imperialistic agenda. at all.

That and 1300 bombs a week is just the canadian contribution French and British planes are dropping similar numbers.

US forces in Libya that are not on loan to NATO, but just under their command(read battle group USS Bataan) now seek approval from congress to continue operations in Libya. If congress doesn't approve continued involvement the battle group will legally have to withdraw under the american War Powers Act.

Libyan Rebels in the western mountains have secured a second boarder crossing with Tunisia.

Religious freedom has become a reality in Benghazi, both Islamic and Catholic schools have opened in the city, both of which were illegal under Gaddafi rule. The transitional National Council says they want a Democratic and Secular government that represents all religions and beliefs.

Reports of multiple areas of fighting between Gaddafi forces and Guerrilla rebels in Tripoli.

i assume the CSIS is doing that in preparation of the Crash and Bag(thats what i'm going with anyway...) op that will go after Gaddafi in 11 days

the USS Bataan battle group needs to stay on station, if those ships disengage then the rest of the UN Coalition, NATO would of course stay though....

Assad is undeterred from sanctions, but the United States is now saying for Assad to go.

i think this is the end in Yemen

We should know better, because we are better.

The Rebels are in Tripoli now? That was faster than I expected (granted I was not paying much attention to the news). I hope this means Gaddafi's reign is nearly over.

no people are rising up in Tripoli, the Rebels in Misrata are probably still fighting on the coastal road that leads to Tripoli.

Oh, that clears it up, thanks. This is also good news in the fact that Gaddafi's seat of power is not fond of him.

At least some progress is being made :D

Honestly I gues this brings to light the true opinions of the Libyan public. They generally want a democracy, but can only speak up when not under a threat.

Of course he is. So few people on the flood actually care about a present day civil war, so without the bumping of the OP this well set up report, to which I go for almost ALL of my information, would die.

You don't have to visit the thread for christs sake. Just go back to your fankid threads and avdice threads if you want.
