Guys lets keep this on topic. I don't think we want this to turn into a Palestinian Conflict thread.
not entirely, however the Palestinian conflict IS in the middle east. While the focus is on Libya here, and more specifically NATO operations, the rest of the issues over there are important.

C'mon NATO, if you found and killed Bin Ladden and Saddam you can find this dictator SOB (Khadafi).
UN hasn't given authorization to kill or arrest Gaddafi yet.

The goal of the mission isn't even to eliminate Gaddafi. It's to stop Gaddafi forces from killing civilians. NATO is afraid killing Gaddafi would just turn him into a Martyr.

damn it!

NATO has now attacked and Destroyed all Gaddafi Naval Vessels in the ports of Sirte, Al Khums, and Tripoli.

Misuratan Rebels have pushed to the edge of Zlitan and are also pushing the other direction and have reached the edge of Sirte.

Rebels have secured the town of Tawergha

was his navy even a threat? i know we sent messages to there ships saying if they deployed they would be destroyed.

i think those advances are enough proof that this is no longer a stalemate.
apparently these were the ships that were launching the small explosive filled boats and trying to lay mines.

thats a good thing.

also, expect a decision on US Libya involvement on Monday, hopefully they decided to stop trying to get political points when the time comes.

and Kuwait elected to UN Human Rights panel in place of Syria

at least 4 Explosions in Zintan Libya, this town is under rebel control

Yemen Crisis continues, as the President backs down again at the last minute

Violence continues in Syria

and the EU has pledged support to the Rebels, i cannot find the story to say what support it is though.

  • 05.22.2011 7:08 PM PDT

The Gulf Cooperation Council suspended mediation efforts in Yemen. Looks like even the GCC has given up on mediation now

  • 05.23.2011 6:02 PM PDT

NATO is now sending Attack Helicopters to Libya

Gaddafi's compound has been attacked again and at least 20 explosions in Tripoli

HMS Ocean could be sent to Libya armed with Apache's. And the French are sending attack helicopters.

we honestly should get PsychOps to play Ride of the Valkyrie's for their first attack run.

some unrest on the Tunisian border

and aren't we T-minus 6 days until the warrants for Gaddafi go threw?

Israel refused to go back to the original 1967 borders which the UN gave to them when Obama talked to them. Israel did say that they would make concessions for peace though

Anyone else think we should we harsher with Israel? Sure they have had a bad history and i feel sorry for them, but they simply cant go on abusing the Palestinian people like this.

I read the Isrealis speech on Al Jazeera and it is quite good and well written but its mostly just flattering America and blaming Palestine for the violence

[Ill edit this OP if you think its off topic]

that's the rumoured date for the official release of the warrents. The UN though seems to be holding back pretty hard core to garner support from Russia and China, so official authorization to forcibly extract Gaddafi is looking more and more up in the air. Kinda wonder what the Canadians in Tunisia will do if they don't get the go-ahead

Youtube would explode if that footage is released lol.

sorry to go off topic, but we've done it before...

OT: i can't find the story but i saw earlier that the US invited the rebels to set up an office in Washington DC.

also some details on last nights air raid . i would be surprised if no American aircraft were involved.

The rebels have set up a permanent office in Washington, as a pseudo embassy for the TNC.

The use of mercenaries has now had independent verification. Al Jazeera has a interview with 3 of these mercenaries.

France and Britain have confirmed they are sending in amphibious strike forces to carry attack helicopters into Libya. Holding to the CSIS commitment of releasing no further information on Canadian Involvement, no word on Canadian operations. Also no news on the American front.

A report form Al Jazeera in the middle of Tripoli Street in Misurata says 'this is where the Battle of Misurata was fought AND won'

While the Libyan embassy in Canada remains open it's 5 member staff have been expelled from Canada for 'unruly and undiplomatic behaviour' towards Libyan Nationals in Canada. It was revealed one of them was a member of the Libyan Intelligence agency.

The after the G8 meeting in Deauville the G8 will meet with the new African democracies or emerging democracies of Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Senegal, Niger, Guinea, Sudan, Somalia, Zimbabwe and Ivory Coast

Six countries in a massive bombing raid would mean the six countries who are involved in offensive operations not enforcive ops.

The six countries involved in offensive ops are Britain, France, Canada, US, Qatar, and the UAE.(prime example of the mosaic effect. Two pieces of information that are seemingly unrelated allow us to draw a conclusion. We know there are 6 countries actively involved in bombing missions as well as enforcing a no- fly zone. This report says six countries participated in a massive raid, hence we can deduce what countries were involved)

cool. It's interesting to see that NATO is showing leniency on the note of arms. It also is interesting that Benghazi is now able to reinforce Misurata.
