NATO forces have been spotted on the ground near Misurata. Al Jazeera has about 2 seconds of video showing the masked SpecOps who they speculate to be British, Reuters has reported seeing both Canadian and British flags on the shoulders of these troops who vanish into the crowds as soon as reporters start to approach.

and everyone acts as if this is new...

well, maybe the NATO ground assault wont be needed if the Rebels push hard enough... well 70km is a long way for the rag tag bunch...
Nato putting boots on the ground may show Gaddafi we're dead serious...so far he's been taking pot shots with his weak ass politics.

and his logic is flawed, Benghazi is better off now then it was when he was in control of it, Drugged by Terrorists my -Blam!-

We need him alive, it'll send one hell of a message.
exactly. but it appears everyone is becoming inpatient, like this was supposed to last a month... actually that was probably the though at first...

also, the UK is deaning that those talks are going in. safe to say they were a lie.
Wait can't we just have peace talks with him and arrest him there and then?

Or have our spec ops follow him back to were he is hiding? And then capture him.
Why the hell not, any Military man would agree, it's the suits who have the final say.
I understand 100% if arresting him at the talks is against the rules of war and what have ya. Which the whole you promised peace during the talks this is dirty tactics. ( Which would be rather humorous to hear from Gaddafi).

But the 2nd one would be no problem i imagine.
I think that is why he is refusing to talk with anyone other than the AU
Like we're gonna let that happen.
it's how it's going right now. They are refusing any possible peace talks that don't come through the AU

I think the AU negotiations are a joke. Gaddafi was the head of it in 2009 and the current guy in charge is pretty much a dictator himself. Of course he wants them to mediate, they're pretty much his kind of people.

Algeria now having problem because of the Libyan war, these stem from the spread of arms because of the conflict

The protests have escalated over the death of that 13 year old boy.

the Sydney Morning Herald reports Iran is playing a major role now in crackdowns in Syria, naming an increased number of trainers and advisors, and sending members of their Quds Force

Wiki on Quds Force .
What 13 year old boy?

story here

also, it was posted on the last page with no link.

Yemen has gotten so confusing.

Both sides are anti-western now, and both sides have been reported by reputable news to be using al-Qeada. I really don't think that the western world has a clue as to what is really going on there, and I don't think it has anything to do with political reform and everything to do with tribal differences.

In Libya
The Rebels have graduated their first officers from their military academy. Looking at the Al Jazeera blog there are some pictures of the dress uniforms of the rebel military, they are looking quite professional. They are no longer the rag-tag group they once were

NATO has said they feel the end of the conflict is near, citing Gaddafi's inner circle is starting to defect.

The Battle for Misurata seems to actually be over as the rebels start to clean up the streets and take down fortifications behind the front line.

Prince Harry is vying for his armoured regiment to be deployed in Libya, if a UN resolution is made authorizing ground deployment.

Two French Lawyers who just returned from a trip to Libya are now trying to make a case to the ICC for the French President to be tried for Crimes against humanity for initiating the NATO campaign. Legal proceedings to begin today. The same lawyers are the ones who are going to represent Gaddafi if the arrest warrant goes out for him.

In Yemen
The situation gets more convoluted as three sides appear to have emerged. two are becoming anti-western and pro-al-Qeada. The dispute has moved away from a push for political reform and has degraded into a secretarian, religious dispute, while the peaceful protest of the pro-democratic movement continues to protest.

{personal addendum to this} it would seem that the 'Islamist Jihadis' are trying to take advantage of the Government's distraction with the civil uprising, in an attempt to take over the country. The protesters continue to push democracy, and the president continues to refuse to give up power to either side.

In Syria
Protesters, who have been chanting about their religious solidarity, despite differences have changed their chant to anti-Hezbollah, and anti-Iran slogans after Iran sent Military aid to the Syrian president in an attempt to quell the 'peaceful rebellion'

a number of videos of the situation in Syria can be found here (graphic content)

The killing of the 13 year old boy sparked a response from Russia saying the Syrian regime has 'crossed a line' and moved for the Syrian situation to be rediscussed in the UN security council.

Syrian Helicopters have taken to the skies in Deraa in an attempt to gun down protesters from the air.

A UN envoy to Syria will be investigating claims from a anonymous protester that he worked in a nuclear power plant that the government had turned into a nuclear weapons facility.

the envoy will consist of two European diplomats and an armed guard from their home countries.

Russia has woken up then, took them long enough.

good to see that the Rebels have military officers now.

Prince Harry leading a armored push in Libya... i guess that would send a message.

Updated title and slight change in topic.

Rather than focusing just on Libya this thread now officially covers the Arab Spring with a focus on Libya, Syria and Yemen.

I don't trust it, they must be getting something out of this sudden shift in opinion.

Indeed. Perhaps a public or government voice has shifted the view, or G8 convinced them of their duty, but why the change of heart all of a sudden?.

the people who are trying to bring legal proceedings against the french president are the same people who plan on defending Gaddafi in the ICC proceedings.

They think that the NATO campaign is what is endangering civilians, not Gaddafi.

Thanks.

South Africa is now denying that it is there about an exit strategy for Gaddafi. This raises concerns for the Rebels who fear he may be pushing for a split Libya
