some videos of what is happening in Syria. They are posted on Al Jazeera who says they are unable to validate them due to all foreign media being banned from Syria.

Massacre

Protesters run away from security forces as they open fire into a crowd killing at least one.

UN rights chief Navi Pillay is now comparing the Syrian crackdown to that in Libya.

YEMEN

ok Got things sorted out for what is happening in Yemen now. The Republican Guard(government forces) are cracking down on UN-armed pro-democracy protesters much like in Libya and Syria, having brought in artillery to fire upon protests.

When some of the Republican Guard defected to the protesters side, The Yemeni president invited extremist mercenaries into the country to compensate, it is rumoured this is al-Qeada.

In the confusion, a rival tribe, backed by Iran is using the protests as justification for them to seize power and over throw Saleh, claiming they are fighting in the name of Democracy.

yeah they've all done the same, and the odd western country that hasn't done so is having it's nationals expelled by the Syrian regime right now.

Off topic: Thank you.

The pro-democratic revolution in Yemen has contacted NATO countries and the UN saying that in exchange for support they will sign a deal allowing western countries to send in their militaries to take down the al-Qeada cells in the country. This is an extension of the agreement the US previously held with the Yemeni president that allowed for an exchange in intelligence information.

It looks like the Same revolutionaries in Egypt that toppled Mubarak seem to be preparing to revolt against the military and force them out of power if elections are not held soon

NATO forces have been spotted on the ground near Misurata. Al Jazeera has about 2 seconds of video showing the masked SpecOps who they speculate to be British, Reuters has reported seeing both Canadian and British flags on the shoulders of these troops who vanish into the crowds as soon as reporters start to approach.

and everyone acts as if this is new...

well, maybe the NATO ground assault wont be needed if the Rebels push hard enough... well 70km is a long way for the rag tag bunch...
Nato putting boots on the ground may show Gaddafi we're dead serious...so far he's been taking pot shots with his weak ass politics.

They've been having Special Forces in Libya conduct air strikes for months now, nothing new.

Israel refused to go back to the original 1967 borders which the UN gave to them when Obama talked to them. Israel did say that they would make concessions for peace though

Anyone else think we should we harsher with Israel? Sure they have had a bad history and i feel sorry for them, but they simply cant go on abusing the Palestinian people like this.

I read the Isrealis speech on Al Jazeera and it is quite good and well written but its mostly just flattering America and blaming Palestine for the violence

[Ill edit this OP if you think its off topic]

The international community should be harsher on the Israelis for all of the illegal land grabbing Israel has been doing, the European Union acknowledged the land grabbing and threatened to recognize Palestine as a country.

More than 100 of high ranking gaddafi loyalists have defected and left the country according to Al Jazeera. One of the defectors, an officer estimates that Gaddafis military capacity is at 20 percent of what it once was

Good news i guess, although i think we should investigate what sort of part they took in the gaddafi regime

I will be away, and out of the country for a week. This means my updates will be limited to very large news, as I would be updating via roaming Data on a phone. Please keep this up and running in my absence and I will see you all on June 6th! Lets hope(as pessimistic as I am about it) that this will all be over by then!

They are already are. How about those THOUSANDS of rockets launched into Israel by Palestinians? Just curious. I guess it doesn't matter. Right?

1. Going back to 1967 borders would be similar to removing the borders between Texas and Mexico and allowing the borders to be free, as well as removing any guards stationed there. The Golan Heights are necessary for proper defense of Israel. Going back to the borders of 1967 would be the end of Israel.
2. No nation gives back land it won in warfare. I suggest the United States give back Texas and California, it is only fair.
3. Thousands of rockets have been launched into Israel from Palestine, while suicide bombers flood in and bomb buses so that the military was needed to protect school buses from suicide bombers.

I am in support of a two-state solution, but it must be monitored by Israeli security forces. Otherwise, it would becoming a cesspool of terrorist activity.

EDIT: Double post. My bad.

Palestine would never agree to that. A neutral force would have to monitor or enforce it like some UN forces or something.

There would have to be UN everywhere. I mean, thousands. I would think the Palestinians would enjoy the rights that Israelis enjoy, if allowed. To be honest, I think that the UN would not be able to infiltrate and destroy Hamas cells as efficiently as the Israelis could, but if they proved capable, the UN should be allowed to do their peace-keeping role that they usually fail to do.

Russia and China is why, Russia due to current developments is now in support for assisting in Syria and for killing Gaddafi, so the only hurtle now is China who is alone in its opposition to UN intervention and should feel a sort of "Peer Pressure" to just abstain in the UNSC votes instead of Vetoing.

Russia may not still vote on Syria until Libya is over, which may be in about a week.

@HALO: United Nations Peacekeepers are mostly from non-western countries actually. so maybe it wont be a problem, but i cant be sure. for infiltration, i would recommend Pakistani Peacekeepers though...

This thread was started after the UNSC approved the no-flyzone over Libya, and mostly follows the events surrounding The Arab Spring that began in Tunisia, on the fateful day a man was denied his fruit cart, and spread across the Arab world in a push for democratic reform.
