Arab news network

think of it as CNN but you actually see news

also, Al-Qaeda sent all there Bin laden tapes to the network
What tapes?

the ones they released to the public on there own back when they were regular , or did Al Jazeera just find them?

i could be wrong about that.

They sent them to Al Jazeera.

  • 06.05.2011 3:30 PM PDT

yes those tapes

British Armed Forces could be in Libya until Christmas i think this claim is only partially right, but i think they need to look at the situation a little more.

CNN story on some Youtube videos, by the sound of this it is to gruesome to even link the videos in the story

reports now indicate that Saleh is now in surgery

Al Jazeera's Cal Perry reports from Benghazi:

It's been a surprising morning, because what we have had are two static military fronts, one to the south of me and then one to the west of me - just east of Tripoli ... We understand that the fighting on that second front has been very heavy, there has been very little movement in the town of Misurata.

But what we saw this morning was rebels rolling into a town just 100 miles from the capital, really on the doorstep of Gaddafi and all they found were Gaddafi positions that had been abandoned. There is video, photographs coming out of that town of Gaddafi forces seemingly just having disappeared to this rebel advance.

Now it's unclear right now what propelled this breakthrough, was it perhaps NATO attack helicopters, was it perhaps the Warfala tribe that just a few days ago sided with the eastern rebel army, what propelled this to happen we still dont know. But what we do know is that the clock certainly seems to be ticking on Gaddafi. This is really the first challenge to the city of Tripoli that we have seen in about four months.

I guess gaddafi is simply running out of resources to throw at the rebels. I remember some stastic in Al Jazeera saying that Gaddafis military force is about 20 percent of what is used to be

I'm back. long week abroad. thanks for keeping this alive and kicking.

from the last 24 hours:

PALESTINE
The Palestinians in an attempt to gain favour from the UN and support for their cause as an independent state, seem to be moving towards electing a democratic government under UN supervision.

SYRIA
Armed protesters attacked and killed 120 regime troops yesterday, in fear of those troops coming to kill them. al-Assad vows that there will be a 'decisive' retaliation.

France is putting the Syria situation to the UNSC this week, set for just after the ICC delegation returns from the country.

YEMEN
with Saleh out of the country the opposition is trying to meet with the vice president for talks about keeping Saleh out of the country and put in a transitional government.

LIBYA
Increased NATO strikes on Gaddafi's compound in Tripoli have led to 11 day time strikes in the past 24 hours.

The Rebels have seized an unnamed town in the west, as well as Yafran, further tightening the noose on Gaddafi controlled territory. This puts the Benghazi Rebels less than 100 km from Tripoli.

"What's up baby, how are you doin'? I hate the sound of my own voice and I been invited here to distract my self from the fact that I wrote all of this garbage."

Sweet news on Libya. Gaddafi is still dangerous though but he'll be gone in a little bit.

I think it's funny that Iran is defending the Syrian government. I know they're strong allies but it just comes across as "They're shooting protesters, doesn't everyone do that? Or is it just us?"

Syria is pushing UN intervention, or NATO intervention with or without UN approval at this rate.

Anyone see the BBC news last night?

There was a report on how Gaddafi supportres showed them an unconcious child in hospital and said she had been injured in a bomb. One of the nurses then passed one of the reporters a note saying that she had been injured in a car accident

Apparently NATO bombed the hell out of Tripoli today. Gaddafi called and said he's never going to give Libya up or step down. He also says he has an army of around half a million armed Libyans ready to counterattack.

And of course the usual "quick guys, cuddle around my house so I don't get bombed!" request.

You gotta love this guy.
