they are Training in the West specifically for taking Tripoli. The rest of the Western force is making slow but steady progress towards Tripoli.

A 'Skirmishing force' of rebels from Misurata were bypassed by about 3000 Gaddafi troops who have now surrounded Misurata again.

A force or Rebels that had left Benghazi are now about 100KM south of Tripoli.

Wait, all the way from Benghazi? How did Gaddafi's troops not notice this?

Also, the US defense secretary's NATO speech. He pretty much says that the US is tired of paying for everybody's stuff.

well, there is a whole desert south of where most of the fighting is, and Sun Tzu did write "All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near."

i also heard NATO said they did not lose any helicopters. that was actually the 3rd time the Loyalists said they shot down a helicopter as well.

they have almost their entire force focused on Misurata and Al Dafniya(right by Misurata) the rebels in Benghazi decided to go around through rebel held southern Libya and attack from the south rather than pushing across the coast. Supply lines are more difficult to maintain this way, but they avoid conflict alot longer.

as to the US comment, I don't know about the countries who are patrolling the no-flyzone, but the 8 active bombing countries are all paying their own way, and all taking a hit financially because of it. last thing the coalition needs is in-fighting.

I knew that the southern desert was mostly deserted but I also heard Gaddafi troops attacking oil fields there that the rebels were using. I figured he'd have enough of a presence there to notice.

And I wouldn't be surprised if NATO hasn't lost any helicopters. This is the same Loyalist media that says the rebels were given drugs by al-Qaeda.

The oil feilds are near Brega, a town just west of Ajdabiya, along the coast.

I know about Brega but I was referring to oil fields in the south.

That reminds me, have the rebels taken Brega back yet?

nope. Neither side has made any attempt to attack the other there, both sides are really dug in and the rebels garrisoning Ajdabiya are now practically professional.

Also Gaddafi forces withdrew from the south when the rebels took Zintan and Jafar, pretty much putting the rebels in complete control of the south.

LIBYA
When 40 Grad Rockets landed in the town of Zintan, rebels withdrew to save lives, Gaddafi forces moved in, but have since been pushed out by a rebel counter attack.

Letters have arrived to the governments of the 8 agressing NATO countries from Gaddafi asking to negotiate a ceasefire.

31 dead and 144 injured after the last bombardment of Misurata. NATO hasn't sent in support as of yet as they seem to be occupied elsewhere.

Gaddafi forces have shelled the southern town of Gadamis, this is surprising as there isn't even a rebel garrison there, just protests.

Syria
The regime has started deploying gunships in the area of protests.

Protesters have started publicly burning Russian and Chinese flags in protest of these country's lack of support, calling them children killers. The protesters are appealing to western nations carrying banners in English and French.

Despite the Turkish government covering the fences with plastic tarps to keep reporters from talking to the refugees, they thank the government for helping them, and at the same time appeal to them to allow reporters to talk to them.

YEMEN
It seems the Yemeni army has seen al-Qaeda seizing too much control and has started attacking those they invited in to help, turning this into a 3 sided conflict between the regime, al-Qaeda, and the pro-democracy rebels and protesters. This started after an al-Qaeda group ambushed an armoured brigade.

LIBYA
Rebels have reached Zawiyah, less then 50 km from Tripoli. It's currently unclear as to where the rebel force is from (east or west) but roads are closed in the area to reporters due to 'an extremely large battle"

NATO jets are heard overhead regularly.

Why are the rebels attacking Tripoli, while Misrata is being attacked? Wouldnt it be better to deal with gaddafi forces that are shelling their civilians before attacking gaddafis stronghold?

Gaddafi sent 3000 troops to Misurata. with his military only existing in 20% of it's original capacity, Tripoli is practically undefended. Taking Tripoli, and by proxy taking Gaddafi, will end the conflict.

The Libyan military was 76000 troops when the war started, and now at 20% remaining leaves him with about 15000 troops left.

7000 troops are deployed in the western mountains, 3000 troops are stationed at Misurata, leaving him with about 5000 troops to defend Tripoli, The Ajdabiyan front and contend with fighting in the south where about 1000 troops are suspected of being located.

I like Halo: Reach. I think its a fun game. What i DON'T like about it is that the maps such as SwordBase is terrible. I don't hate armor lock, but i can say it can sometimes get annoying. Bloom doesn't bother me either.

What do you guys think will happen after we kill Gaddafi? I also don't get why China and Russia don't want US Air Support in Syria? Can someone explain this to me?

Why is NATO and US involved in this again, i am completely lost. Theres so much -blam!- thats going down in the middle east. So heres my questions again.

1.What do you think will happen after we kill Gaddafi
2.Why is NATO and US involved in the middle east conflicts happening now?
3.Why does Russia and China disapprove of the US putting a No-Fly Zone in Syria.

I haven't been watching the news, nor paying attention lately. So i'm off track,

Not really, i and alot of other people want this thread to keep going as it is a fairly good source of news on the crisis in the middle east

Mali's President Amadou Toumani Toure said he wanted to see a halt to NATO's bombardment of Libya and the start of talks to lift the battle-worn country out of its months-long crisis.

"Like the African Union, we wish for the bombardments to stop and the opening of political talks to find a way out of the crisis," Toure said during a press conference marking four years since his election for a second time as head of state.

The president, who is part of an African panel charged with mediating in the conflict, said a "favourable" environment for discussions needed to be created.

"Mali is very distressed about the situation that Libya, a country dear to us, finds itself in," he said, adding that there was still a chance of helping Libyans find a peaceful solution to the violence which has raged between rebels and pro-Gaddafi forces since mid-February.

Anyone else tired of the AU, as it is filled with dictators as bad as or even worse than Gaddafi. It should stop pretending to be more than it is.

What the ferk?

He does realise that the term '-blam!- one up' in combat simply means administering a fight? Giving viagra to his army won't halp them. I mean jesus what the -blam!-?
