The cake is a pie

Im starting to think britain should just pull out of libya, this conflict is going nowhere, and the country has already spent too much on it.

Unless countries like germany get involved, or we launch a ground invasion, this could go on for years.

An exelent point. The last thing we want is a stalemate war. Hell, I'd rather Gadaffi win then that happen. So what do? We can't just leave the rebels to die when they're so close to victory.

thing is once we sanction the SAS to hunt gaddafi down we pretty much have boots on the ground and we are taking sides. The UN resolution says no ground forces are allowed and we are protecting civlians not the rebels. The help we give the rebels are purely an after effect.

We all know we are on the rebels side but oh well.

Its plain as day we want the col gone/dead.

But do we know where abouts in the city he is? its either we do something similiar to the mission that killed bin laden, send in a team to kill or capture him, or we bomb the building he is staying in to hell.

Neither option sounds good, plus we play into the hands of regime by confirming we just wanted the reigime out rather than simply protecting the civilians.

Plus if we kill gaddafi, someone will just take his place and continue the war, the non rebel civilians will rally around the regime further.

Propaganda is a powerfull tool.

People are forgetting that the rebels are so close to Tripoli and that Gaddafi is doomed. Alot of news stations are failing to report that the rebels are actually pushing towards Tripoli and that Gaddafis forces are diminished.

And remember, when Gaddafis tanks rolled into Benghazi, Gaddafi was just going to kill them all. Thats a city of 700000. How bad would the west have looked to let that many people die

Actually the UN sanction was worded as 'protect civilian lives by all means necessary starting with implementing and enforcing a no-fly zone'

The sanction allows for ground forces, NATO is stopping that. They don't want it to look like an invasion.

SYRIA
President Assad pledged political reform today, to take place over the next couple of months. He blamed sabateurs and terrorists for creating the problems in the country.

The US has said they want to see actions not words in this case, and Turkey taking a more aggressive stace, gave Assad a one week deadline to start making these changes before they would 'take action'

Avaaz has been locked down by security forces

a firefight broke out in Jisr al-Shughur after a number of security forces turned on their commanders when they were ordered to attack protesters.

YEMEN
multiple deadly clashes have erupted between al-Qeada millitants and the government forces as protests continue, and the three sided conflict heats up.

LIBYA
Gaddafi accuses NATO of destroying a family home, which would have been the second incident in as many days of civilians being killed in an airstrike. NATO has said, that they were operating in the area, but struck a high level C&C centre that had been under survailance for 2 weeks, and no collateral damage was observed. The location was the home of Khuwildi Hemidi, Gaddafi's current chief of staff.

Repair of Telecommunication lines is now underway in Misurata.

so Turkey is giving Assad a week to reform his government?

proceed with the countdown!

also, is Gaddafi really trying to make the world think we hit 2 civilian structures in as many days? he does know NATO has the tapes of every airstrike right?

here's a video of Gaddafi's forces very close to a Mosque firing Missiles at Zlitan

this is big, it means the Rebels are really going to try to get the Chinese to help them. It shows faith to send your political leader into the camp of a politically hostile country.

Italy, the main airbase.

It's not the first time the CF have made a huge purchase of video games, they do it rather regularly for front line troops.
