LIBYA
Turkey has officially recognized the TNC as the legitimate governing body of Libya.

The Libyan Loyalists say they will not negotiate Gaddafi leaving power, the Rebels say that if he stays they will not negotiate.

Loyalists executed imprisoned people when their families in Tripoli failed to participate in a pro-Gaddafi rally, the body of the deceased was then placed on the doorstep of their families.

Loyalists have claimed to have destroyed a rebel cell in Tripoli who had been caught bringing in nearly 100 Tunisian heavy machine guns. Conversely the rebels seized a pro-gaddafi pickup truck in Benghazi that was carrying 30-40 lbs of C4 that was set up out side the TNC's headquarters, those responsible have not been found.

A small Loyalist naval force guarding the Tripoli port intercepted 2 Qatari blockade runners carrying heavy weapons into Janzour, no further information has been provided.

Sudanese armed forces have moved into parts of Libya in an effort to support the rebels in protecting oil production facilities. While Sudan is not taking the oil it seems they are attempting to allow the rebels to sell the oil as to stabilize the African oil market. The TNC however, has said that if the Sudanese president enters Libya they will make every effort to arrest him, as he, like Gaddafi is wanted by the ICC.

YEMEN
The leader of the Yemeni opposition was arrested as he disembarked from his aircraft yesterday.

The government shelled the town of Taez yesterday, and opposition responded by attacking several armoured vehicles with improvised explosives.

The Yemeni authorities have said that they've formed special youth militias to fight al-Qaida in the south

Ali Abdullah Saleh, the Yemeni president, in hospital in Riyadh, will not cede power until he returns to oversee a transition, a Yemeni cabinet official said on Sunday.

SYRIA
3 busses of Syrian Security forces have been spotted moving towards the Turkish boarder again

Colonel Ryad Mousa a senior officer in the Syrian air force declared defection and joined the 'free officer's movement' in a public braodcast

Security forces killed 3 children in Hamaa last night.

The United Nations security council plans to meet next week to discuss Syria's refusal to cooperate with an investigation into the country's alleged secret nuclear activities

Now this explains a lot about these sudden pro-gaddaffi rallies...

I fear Hama will be a massacre. And it's unlikely it will change Russia and Chinas minds on the situation.

Is Turkey still preparing an expeditionary force?

  • 07.05.2011 1:17 PM PDT

The crackdown in Hama has Intensified. I will add citizens are building barricades and throwing rocks at security forces and government gangs.

Honestly the eyes of the world should be on Hama now, not the Frenchman or Casey Anthony.

In a pan-African call to end NATO strikes on Libya, more than 1,000 South Africans have rallied at a US embassy.

Wednesday's union-organized rally ended with the handing over of a memorandum to US officials saying bombings are undermining African efforts to negotiate a solution.

South African President Jacob Zuma is leading stalled African Union mediation efforts. He has faced criticism at home for supporting a UN resolution calling for protecting civilians in Libya.

Zuma blames NATO for overstepping the resolution. The fiery leader of the governing African National Congress Youth League, Julius Malema, said at the rally that South Africa should have foreseen how the resolution would be used, and should not have voted for it.

How stupid is the AU? They blame NATO for not being able to come up with a solution. Never mind the fact that the libyan rebels refuse to make any ceasefire until Gaddafi goes.

In West Libya, the rebels have had a major victory today putting them closer to Tripoli. I'm looking for the town now. Also Russia is charging NATO with hindering political talks.

People are now urging the ICC to place charges of war crimes on Syria. It's also possible now that Iran my try to replace Syria with Iraq, but I find this claims lacking real merit at this time.

Edit: as it turns out the rebels in the west have launched an offensive. Rebels have also taken the the town of al-Qawalish

In Libya, the western rebels are now fighting in the western plain region close to Tripoli, Russia is also sending another plane of humanitarian aid.

In Syria, so far 1000 people have fled Hama. The UN is requesting access to Syria for aid workers. Amnesty International accuses Syria of crimes against humanity.

Saleh released a new video while in Saudi Arabia. The video shows how badly he's injured.

I like Halo: Reach. I think its a fun game. What i DON'T like about it is that the maps such as SwordBase is terrible. I don't hate armor lock, but i can say it can sometimes get annoying. Bloom doesn't bother me either.

We should know better, because we are better.

On a less depressing note: We should prepare to welcome South Sudan as a new country soon. Sudan is a good example of a country that solved it's problems diplomatically.

How much longer before the rebels in libya can make a move on the capital?

Are we talking weeks or months, or possibly even a year?

Is South Yemen Preparing to Declare Independence?

This article is very interesting. Almost nobody in the South wants to be unified with North Yemen. Almost all the flags in Aden are the flags of South Yemen. A General in the Southern independence movement says that South Yemen will be a "...liberal, social democracy, similar to current European socialism."

In Libya, NATO is denying assisting the rebel advance. Detained loyalist have told the rebels they are low on ammunition and fuel, but also say the rebel do not have the equipment to take Tripoli.

In Sudan, the UNSC is discussing the implementation of a south Sudan peacekeeping force.

In Syria, thousands took to the streets of Hama, security forces have killed 8 so far today.
