Gadhafi government holds talks with US officials
Reports of Deadly Sectarian Clashes in Syria
so Gaddafi's troops left there heavy weapons in Brega, they may not have the firepower to hold Ras Lanuf. Why does he insist on speaking with the U.S., we're not involved. he insists, because the US still holds sway. I like stressing how much Canada, Britain and France do in the world, but even I need to say the US is powerful.
If Gaddafi can convince the US that he is a good guy(good luck) then the whole alliance will likely fall apart, just like it would if he convinced Canada, Britain or France to do so. It's just the whole resolution was Canada's idea, Britain and France are the front runners in it, so the US, as hard as they would be to convince, are still the easiest to go for.Now to be fair even if one is convinced it wouldn't bring down the alliance. Remember there are at least 50 countries in the coalition the USA leaving will have an impact but nothing major. Britain and France would not give up until he is gone no matter how much America tells us to stop if they get persuaded.
You give a America a bit more credit that it deserves.maybe so, regardless, that is his motive for doing so. He after all believes this is all an American imperialistic invasion.
