TURKEY
The top four military officials in turkey(Chief of Staff, Chief of the Army, Chief of the Navy and Chief of the Air Force) along with 22 other high ranking officers have resigned due to a disagreement between the military and the newly reelected government. While no information as to the nature of the argument, it is rumoured to be in regards to the Syrian uprising, where the military felt that intervention was needed, that was so heated that the military had even suggested overthrowing the government.

SYRIA
The uprising in Syria hopes that they can use Ramadan to gain momentum, under the protection of the religious holiday.

EGYPT
Hundreds of people have gathered in Tahrir Square in Cairo, and in Alexandria, asking for a schedule for the reforms to be implemented and for a quick trial for the former president.

LIBYA
Confusion surrounds the assassination yesterday, as Younes had been called in for questioning mere hours earlier. Some believe he was actually executed. Rumours swirl about him, as some speculate that the man who was once Gaddafi's closest man may have been a Gaddafi spy. A rift has appeared in the ranks of the rebels over this incident and their advance in the east has come to a halt.

We should know better, because we are better.

A while back I thought Libya might be over by September. Now it looks like it will last, much, much longer. This was good timing for Gaddafi. The assassination is exactly what he needed to keep hold of Libya for longer. If a significant rift does appear in the Rebels, the whole thing could come crashing down.

Why is this not locked?
Because it is news related and is one of the most mature and intelligent threads in this entire forum. Now, I would greatly appreciate it if you would not mindlessly bump the threads with meaningless off-topic questions, thanks.

There is nothing intelligent about classifying the whole of the peoples of the Middle East as "Arabs."

That said, I posted not one minute after you posted. Your point is moot, much like your stance on this thread. It is a complete contradiction to the terms of service, yet after 4000 posts nobody notices?

The Arab Spring refers to the pro-democracy uprisings currently sweeping the Middle East and North Africa. OP is not classifying all middle eastern people as Arabs.

Yeah, sure it is...except there's nothing religious or political about this thread. It's an observation of an expanding conflict. And as far as the rules go, you seem to be the one breaking them. Off-topic posting=spam. Savy? This exchange is over.

What kind of conflict is it? Oh, that's right: a political conflict.

Don't try and act superior and leave an argument on a high note just because you know your points are weak and your defeat is inevitable.

The mods would have killed this thread a long time ago if it broke the rules. In fact i think they have changed the title and participated in this thread if i'm not mistaken.
