"It will not be we who reach Alpha Centauri, and the other nearby stars, it will be a species very like us, but with more of our strengths and fewer of our weaknesses, more confident, far-seeing, capable, and prudent. For all our failings, despite our limitations and fallibilities, we humans are capable of greatness."-Carl Sagan

Does anyone think any PMC groups are in the middle of this?

we know Merc's are fighting for Gaddafi.

I'm talking about the other side. Some NATO nations might be putting them in, doubtful considering PMC laws but to get the job done they'll get 'em in some how.

Watch when all this calms down Halliburton and KBR will get multi million $ contracts to rebuild Libya.

alright guys, my posts will be erratic and infrequent again for a while due to work commitments but I will do my best to keep this updated to the best of my ability.

LIBYA
Gaddafi forces fired the first SCUD missile to be used in the war at Brega, the missile suffered mechanical failure and crashed in the desert before reaching it's target.

In Brega the rebels have been stopped from taking the last third of the town by a dense minefield. They have slowly advanced but only taken 5km in the past two days as they disarmed 3000 anti personal mines in that area.

While Gaddafi claims he is negotiating with NATO the UN and the Rebels in Tunisia, the other three deny these claims

Turkey has supplied 10 million dollars worth of fuel to the Rebels to fuel their military and emergency vehicles.

The Rebels have cut off Tripoli's supply lines in the west taking the main roads in Az Zawiyah, as well as capturing the towns of Ajaylat, Gharyan leaving the only supply lines left to Gaddafi forces being the ports in Tripoli and Sirte.

SYRIA
The Turkish government is creating a military buffer zone between Turkey and Syria.

Syrian forces continue for the 5th day to bombard Latakia from land and sea.

17000 Philipinos have been asked to leave the country.

YEMEN
Clashes yesterday have left at least 25 dead

LIBYA
NATO says that the firing of the SCUD missile was an act of desperation on the part of the Gaddafi regime.

NATO said that: "While he use of scud missiles by Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi could harm civilians, it has as much chance of changing the military course of the war as throwing dishes against a wall

"Our assessment is that the Gaddafi regime does not have any more an effective operational capability"

Huh. The CO at my local Navy Cadet detachment said it was a missile that housed chemical weapons.

The warhead is completely interchangeable. they are too small for a nuclear warhead, but could contain high explosive, or chemical warhead

it will be interesting to see if they make that estimated time of by the end of the month.

off topic... Your coup... it is incredibly distracting.

I assume they are laughing because they thought what they were doing was ridiculous. but it stops my scroll wheel every time i pass it for a second or two. any how back on topic...

so Turkey is making a military buffer zone now... joke response: i think we should put 30 days on the clock and pray nothing goes nuclear...

Real response: i agree with this move, but it could lead to further escalation.

I like Halo: Reach. I think its a fun game. What i DON'T like about it is that the maps such as SwordBase is terrible. I don't hate armor lock, but i can say it can sometimes get annoying. Bloom doesn't bother me either.

Communism should be wiped off the planet. All they care about is money and -blam!-. They never care about there own species. They even make other species extinct. Theres not a lot of Tigers in the world now a days. Russia and China should stop being -blam!-s.

SYRIA
The Regime attacked a refugee camp just outside Latakia last night. At least 10,000 people(almost half Palestinians) have vanished according the the UN Relief and Works Agency that ran the camp.

The Palestinian President, a long time ally of al-Assad has denounced him as having committed crimes against humanity with this act.

With it's military buffer in place, the Turkish government has given al-Assad an ultimatum saying that the killing must stop and never publicly decreed the 'or else' part.

Egypts former President, Mubarak, has issued a statement saying that al-Assad should step down and bow to the will of his people.

The UN in it's entirety has withdrawn all their non-essential staff from Syria.

The Turkish government has stated that if the Syrian Military operations continue, it will be a threat to the entire region and Turkey will no longer be able to be militarily indifferent

LIBYA
The rebels have successfully cut of Tripoli's supply lines. Taking Zawiyah has allowed them to cut off the roads to Tripoli and stop the flow of oil. For the sake of the people in Tripoli they have left the water pipelines open.

In Zawiyah Gaddafi forces still hold only one building: the hospital.

The Misuratan Rebels have gone around the stronghold of Sirte and moved into the town of Al-Heisha to cut off the final supply line to Tripoli, effectively laying a passive siege on the capital.

YEMEN
The Tribal forces fighting the government arrested 7 al-Qeada members and turned them over to the government, in a show of good faith for the people.
