the picture we have been seeing have been from Benghazi, not Tripoli. just a heads up.
They have shown a few live videos of Green Square

not that packed, but there are alot of rebels and civilians there, or there were earlier

Tripoli has fallen.

And now Libya becomes what Egypt have.
the difference here is the military isn't running the show any more.

Yes but will this new Libyan rebel government have the strength to bring Libya together?

I think they can do it. They have the support of the people and are holding together very well. I would also like to thank Phoenix for making this thread and keeping us updated with Libya.

"It will not be we who reach Alpha Centauri, and the other nearby stars, it will be a species very like us, but with more of our strengths and fewer of our weaknesses, more confident, far-seeing, capable, and prudent. For all our failings, despite our limitations and fallibilities, we humans are capable of greatness."-Carl Sagan

Next revolution: Syria.

with the end of the Libyan Civil War we should bring our focus to Syria. more and more people are dieing over there. and with Libya's success it will strengthen the Syrian peoples resolve.

also in a video i just saw a guy was holding a French flag in a sea of Libyan Monarchy flags.

yeah, in about a week when we know if this has all calmed down in Libya, i'll shift the focus of the OP to Syria.

should be save then to switch it over

south africa has denied the idea that Gaddafi left on their plane, as no south african planes had been sent to Libya

Now why does this sound familiar?

*facepalm* i would prefer it be Bashar that did that.

its official, Gaddafi is a walking popculture reference.

found what i think is state TV, its off Sharia al-Jala'a street. but they moved after the airstrike.

Soon to be breaking news:

US Coast Guard prepares for massive rescue mission after Iranian fleet sinks off shore. Reports say a small thunderstorm caused most of the ships to simply...fall apart.

also it seems Gaddafi Forces control a small section district.

Wesley Clark (Former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Retired, CNN Contributor) says the Rebels should push on this sector tonight.

it's Bab al-Aziza, Gaddafi's compound.

it contains the main C&C and the TV station.

I hope they bring the monarchy back and create a constitutional monarchy. Libya needs someone who can unite the whole country.

  • 08.21.2011 7:52 PM PDT

it also seems there are 2 planes left at the airport.

also as the CNN Reporter left Tripoli they reported seeing a lot of Civilian vehicles loaded with Rebels entering the city.

He's in Azerbaijan; send the SAS.

In all seriousness, it seems that the Gadhafi regime has finally met its end. Now the real question is who'll take control of the country once he has been deposed.

Gaddafi isn't in the TV station? Did they check adjoining houses? I wouldn't put it past him to have some sort of secret bunker somewhere.

i don't either. his compound is large though.

takes only a half hour to drive through the city on the highways. so the Rebels can reinforce positions quickly if needed.

I just remembered where the TV station reference is from. So similar it is sad.

But then again, that means Gaddafi could escape Tripoli in a half hour. He could have bugged out as soon as the Rebels started gaining momentum.
