The Yemeni opposition wants the west to freeze all of Saleh's assets

Al-Qaeda is stepping up attacks in South Yemen
Al-Qaeda isn't driven by political gain...what could possibly benefit them by involving them selves in this conflict?
oh maybe just to create an islamic state to sponsor more attacks on the west

The sad fact of the matter is, despite the fact that Gaddafi's regime was oppressive and wrong, we aren't helping the rebels because we genuinely care.

We're helping them because Libya has some of the best oil in the world right now, and we're just using the rebels as a free army that we won't be reprimanded for if damages are taken. Once the rebels have taken control of Libya our governments will put a puppet leader/government at it's head and we'll drain all their resources.

Seriously, is nothing sacred these days?
People wanted help to lead better lives we honoured them by not putting boots on the ground WE PAYED them to keep up the fight and gave them free weapons and body armour.

So what if there is oil in the country im sure if the USA started a civil war other nations would jump in and help the people.

Some times oil or other resources takes a back seat to the genocide of millions of innocents.

Actually, Canada had special forces on the ground for months marking targets for American warships, before NATO intervened.

Gadaffi is not a bad dictator. Sure it is not democratic but he sure as hell is a good leader. Prosperity as far as the eye can see, happy people and healthy economic growth. Russia actually stated their satellites showed no evidence of bombing his own people and I have seen videos of a million people rallied in support of Gadaffi. Not only that there are numerous reports of the Arab rebels killing blacks. That and it is likely they are extremists. -blam!- the rebels, Gadaffi didn't do anything bad. The US started this crap when he started trading oil in a different currency.

That's a possibility. It scares the sh1t outa me though.

I have to say, Al-Qaeda's reaction to Yemen has been...very strange indeed. It has been a very long time since both the West and the Islamic groups were in support of bringing a government down. The chance of Yemen being helped by the Americans is a possibility now, however unlikely.

The most likely possibility is that action-wise, Yemen will now be left alone, otherwise the UN will be claimed to be "Supporting Al-Qaeda."

Lolwut?
Libya has horrible standards for its people, "happy people" what? If they were so happy they wouldn't have started such a massive revolution. The economic growth is true, but it's also true for China, and they're not exactly nice to their people either. They're "Happy" there because they're brainwashed and elitist.

Second point, right, because Russia is VERY trustworthy -.-
Russia is a borderline autocratic government, it doesn't support the Arab Spring and has made that obvious.

Third point, the French started this. The US don't even want to be involved; because they don't want another Iraq, and because they can't set up a puppet government due to not having troops on the ground.

Probably because they realise there is a time and a place for imperialism. Annexing during revolution. That will anger other nations. The US wants to mask it's imperialism.

The real time for imperialism ended with the demise of the CCCP. America has an empire, but won't admit it has an empire.

Special forces are outside of the UN and as far as people are concerned are there because they want to be. They are not considered Boots on the ground.

Also they where their solely to train the rebels and to help with intelligence and communications to help the rebels. They where also finding military targets for warships and aircraft to attack.

They are now helping to hunt down Gaddafi they have nothing to do with the UN or NATO and the Britain can easily say the SAS are there on there own accord and deny their involvement despite everybody knowing its bull.

Boots on the ground is mostly the army or marines basically any ground force would be against the UN mandate.

Oh, please.

Just because there isn't a huge -blam!- force over there, doesn't mean that there aren't "boots on the ground". JTF-2 don't train people, they were there on a military operation that was given a green light by the Canadian government.

Canada had troops on the ground, and I'll bet USA did too, it just wasn't on the news. I don't care if they're special forces or not, they belong to the Canadian/American government, so that means there are troops on the ground.

Then please explain to me why special forces where known to be on the ground and nobody cared, but as soon as Britain sent some C&C experts over China and Russia started complaining that Britain was pushing the its luck and that those experts could be considered boots on the ground.

I heard the SEAL teams where not allowed on American soil so does that mean they are boots on the ground in an area with conflicts going on? No.

Nobody cared because it was reported once on TV, and barely any people heard of it. Not to mention the fact that there are people like you who think special forces are there because they "want to be".

It's no wonder nobody cares, if you've been brain washed to think stupid -blam!- like that.

Special Forces are called in primarily for two main reasons. The first is deniable ops, a good example of this is Operation Trident. The second reason is at the request of our allies or anyone in desperate need of our help and is not a big fan of causing a big commotion.

That still doesn't say thath there were/are no boots on the ground.

Sure it doesn't mean there's an army there, but it's still a decently sized force.

haven't found him yet. However the rebel forces are streaming into the city to consolidate the victory.

While they are 'in control' of Tripoli there is still significant pockets of resistance there.

both of these are good news. but in Sirte the Rebels will need most of their forces to take the city. it is most likely a fortress by now.

also Heavy fighting continues at the Tripoli airport. i'm starting to think this is a deception though, to make the Rebels think he is in Tripoli and trying to escape while he is really preparing for a last stand a Sirte.
