Heres another thing that has me torn. Part of me supports the rebels; they want liberation and i'm all for that. But the rebels are killing people aswell. Is there even a good side in this? Do we only support the rebels because its in our nature to support uprisings?.

Yeah, they're killing Gaddafi forces shooting at them. This is to protect the Libyan people and remove a ruthless dictatorship that is overseeing their massacre. How can you be torn?
I question everything i think of. Believe me i support freedome for the people, but the point is anyone who kills anything in this could be considered a bad guy. This might be hard to accept, after all rebels kill mainly in defence, but Gandhi proved that impacts can be made by peacful protests.

In the back of my mind, i think that if the rebels lay down their weapons then the soldiers (or at least the humane ones) will show mercy. But then mabye thats just a stupid idea.

I don't think comparing Gandhi's peaceful resistance against the British during an era of decolonization to a ruthless dictatorship mowing down its own people is an appropriate analogy.

What you're suggesting worked in Egypt. Gadaffi makes Mubarak look like a real gentleman. We're at a point where Gadaffi needs to pay for his crimes and the massacre of innocent life needs to stop.

The british were all but peaceful, and you forget that gadaffi gives the orders, but he doesnt literally decide all those deaths. Thats a choice for the soldiers, and i stress again that they are human, they feel morality and pity just as we do, i think that most of the Libyan army is also scared of the man in power.

You also seem to not realize the Clan structure in Libya. The Gaddafi Loyalists are his Family. they are making these decisions as much as he is. they also have mercenaries on their side. they don't follow orders they don't get their money, killing is their job.

This is a little different than Gandhi. The Libyan rebels actually started with peaceful protests with no weapons, and were shot for it.

Yeah i wasnt entirely sure about that. But i guess that proves it. Gadaffi has violated human rights and we're going to war for it. I still like to believe there is another way though, if only we could think of it.

the 3 frigates (1 Canadian and 2 British) are being used as AAA platforms and electronic warfare platforms, not as attack vessels or staging platforms like carriers. they were already in the area and are ideal for no fly zones. you don't need destroyers or carriers for this.

UN says that Gaddafi must withdraw forces from Ajdabiyah, Misurata, Az Zawiyah and stop an advance on Benghazi, and must also restore water and power to all cities. These terms are NOT negotiable. Failure to comply will be met with coalition military action.

UN Coalition will NOT be deploying any ground troops

it seems that Egyptian military is supplying the Rebels for now.

however fresh rounds of uprisings in Syria and Bahrain seem to have made it difficult for other Arab league nations to assist

it also seems that this whole thing is now referred to as the "Arab Uprising"
