I don't think comparing Gandhi's peaceful resistance against the British during an era of decolonization to a ruthless dictatorship mowing down its own people is an appropriate analogy.
What you're suggesting worked in Egypt. Gadaffi makes Mubarak look like a real gentleman. We're at a point where Gadaffi needs to pay for his crimes and the massacre of innocent life needs to stop.
The british were all but peaceful, and you forget that gadaffi gives the orders, but he doesnt literally decide all those deaths. Thats a choice for the soldiers, and i stress again that they are human, they feel morality and pity just as we do, i think that most of the Libyan army is also scared of the man in power. You also seem to not realize the Clan structure in Libya. The Gaddafi Loyalists are his Family. they are making these decisions as much as he is. they also have mercenaries on their side. they don't follow orders they don't get their money, killing is their job.
This is a little different than Gandhi. The Libyan rebels actually started with peaceful protests with no weapons, and were shot for it.
