UN to investigate claims that Syrian Government is killing civilian protesters.

Jesus Christ, Yemen, Libya and now Syria? The Middle East is going to hell! Let's not forget the military crackdown in Bahrain as well, and this is the time Congress wants to turn its back on the world? Well hey, if this makes the US reevaluate its policy of "get involved in everyone's business" and gives the rest of the international community the chance to act on their own then I guess I support the pull out. Besides, Canada, France and the UK have this covered. I just hope they even the play field for the rebels a bit. I hope even more the UN protects those poor people in the rest of the Middle East.

On a side note: This article almost seems reminiscent of when US troops arrived in France. It's nice to finally feel like we're liberating a population :)

And to think, all this could have been avoided if a Tunisian man was allowed to keep his fruit cart.

WW1 was started over the death of one man in a country that didn't even see combat in the first world war. amazing how these things start

If you stumble accross major information not in the OP, I implore you to please post it in the forum and make others aware.

Please do not Bump unless it is accompianied by discussion or new information, as we do not want to have this thread locked.

Thank you.

Actually, Libya started over a Human Rights Activist being arrested and the police breaking up THAT protest they had to try and release him, so you are right, amazing how these things start

Three journalists including two AFP employees and a Getty Images photographer who had been held by Gaddafi's forces since the weekend have been released in Tripoli, an AFP journalist says.

These aren't the first reporters to be freed. It looks like Gadaffi is trying to appeal to western powers.

He was referring to how the Tunisian man who wasn't allowed to keep his fruit cart started the uprising in Tunisia that led to all the uprisings in the Arab world.

Had the Tunisian Police allowed him that fruit cart, Egypt, Yemen, Syria, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Libya and the rest of the Arab world's uprisings would never of happened.

US Congress to move to cut all funding for Libyan Intervention on American behalf saying the decision of Obama was unconstitutional

Moral of the story: Declaring war without congress is unconstitutional, unless Republicans agree with the cause.

I lol'd

Let's try to keep away from flame war territory though.

The international community is unsure of what to do about the Libya situation. The UN appears to increasingly being drawn into pro and anti intervention groups and cohesiveness is beginning to break down. Thursday could be a turning pint (this is when Ban Ki Moon returns). It appears UNSC resolution 1973 was pushed through in a haste solely to keep Gadaffi from capturing Benghazi.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

17:20 It would appear that reports of US Osprey crew shooting 6 villagers are false. There were warning shots fired at some Gaddafi forces that were moving in to investigate however, no body was hit.
I saw the video on Channel 4 news of the people who were hospitalised in the incident - it definitely happened.

Infact, here's the video a few paragraphs down

AlJazeera spits out the Pro-Gaddafi stuff, but they are also showing how it isn't true with supporting pictures and video showing that the rebels are telling the truth

What? Many of the Al Jazeera articles I read had a bit of an anti-Gaddafi slant.

While I have to say that the article looks valid, both the US and Canada are denying it and all other news sources are supporting them. Not saying their lying, but why dies only Channel4 have this info and why aren't other source corroborating it?
