An assassin will always carry on, even after death.

I'd be quiet happy with Canada in control of the Libyan conflict.

lol we're good at it because we wrote the laws :)

just going to put the current time on it just for organizational purposes.

Honestly, that along with many other things I like about Canada has made me consider emigrating there from the US. I love my country though so I don't know if I could ever do that.

Duracell.
I don't keep going and going and going and...
but i Start, and just don't Stop.

So what if the saxophone is black?
it has better tone the the gold one.
damn straight i play Jazz.

Update to Canadian bombing over Misurata. The laser guided precision strike hit the mobile ammunition reserves being used to supply the Gaddafi forces holding the Misurata hospital, in hopes that without their supply lines they will be forced to retreat.

I was born here and have lived in the US, but i am happy to have moved back. This is my home, and i love it here. So i understand the want to stay in your home country. I have experienced it first hand.

anyhow back on topic :)

Good. It's not like the UN could target the hospital.

sources are all in the OP.
there are live update blogs and the Live feeds from AlJazeera.

i have made it very clear as to where i am getting my info. any information others have submitted has also had links to the supporting reports before it made it's way into the OP.

I am making sure i have sources to back this up.

I'm cool with that.

Cool. I really am trying to keep this a factual discussion thread only. I feel the events occurring in the middle east are of great interest to the whole world regardless of their ages or local.

Sources in Misurata say that Gaddafi tanks have reinforced the force there and are shelling the city again. Targeting the area around the hospital.

  • 03.23.2011 12:42 PM PDT

New targets for the coalition then. UN could always use target practice.

Syrian Protests

At least four people were killed by security forces near Al-Omari mosque in Daraa, including a doctor and a paramedic. - Bloomberg news

Electricity had been cut off before the attack and mobile phone network appeared to be disrupted in the city. Security forces were also preventing ambulances from entering the city centre, where the mosque is located. Demonstrations were under way in Aleppo as well, in support of protesters in Daraa. - Al Jazeera English

You know I'm beginning to wonder if we should add Syria to the OP as well. i'll be the seconder of this movement. need a third person to request it and i'll put it up.

  • 03.23.2011 12:53 PM PDT

If Yemen is already up there then I'd put Syria up too. At least until the protests are dispersed by the govt. The Syrian protests are pretty significant especially for a closed state where info is hard to get out of the country. The only thing I'd think about is how much info could be acquired for that.

However, something that shouldn't be included in OP, Algeria:

Police in the Algiers suburb of Oued Koriche used tear gas on Wednesday to disperse a crowd of young men who threw stones and Molotov Cocktails trying to stop bulldozers from demolishing dozens of illegally-built homes. Five police officers were injured in the rioting, during which rioters threw bricks down on police from nearby rooftop and set fire to a car

I don't think this has been mentioned, pardon me if it has.

Yemeni government passes emergency laws that suspend the constitution, allows media censorship, ban street protests and give security forces 30 days of far-reaching powers to arrest and detain suspects.

Protesters have called to march on the Presidential palace this Friday.

You know if we only heard info from Gaddafi, and had no contact with the rebel side at all, I think the world would be siding with him, what he says, and alone what he says make a little bit of sense.

He obviously trusts the people of Tripoli if he is willing to give them all guns.

However seeing the Rebels side i see what he says for the lies they are.

I seriously don't get why you continuously have to update. Anybody can go to Al jazeera themselves, heck you even linked it.

Arming all your citizens isn't a sign of trust, it's a sign of desperation. It's like when the South armed slaves in the civil war.

Also, not to go into OP:

Bahraini king claims that the "foreign plot" to overthrow his country has been defeated and that the protests have failed. He thanks the Gulf Cooperation Council for its assistance. This info two days old but I haven't seen any other news since then so it might be true.

Most people are too lazy to do it. Heck this is the first time that I'm regularly checking while Phoenix is online.
