I seriously don't get why you continuously have to update. Anybody can go to Al jazeera themselves, heck you even linked it.
most people are too lazy to do it. and MODs seem to think that it is worth it. they modified my title even yet have let the constant updates go.

just because you don't feel it needs this, doesn't mean some of us believe everyone needs to see a reminder of it even if they don't care about it

There is also reports of gaddafi putting his civlians near the airports or military bases to stop us bombing them. Some reports of his soldiers actually forcing civilians into military bases to stop us bombing them.

-blam!- coward!
indeed. two nights ago he called a bunch of media to the site of a 'missile attack' so that the British bombers who were enroute couldn't hit him

yeah i threw that up there a day or two ago. He blames them on Iran influence, and agents.

It's probably true. Iran has their hand in much of the middle east. I hope their reach doesn't go as far as Libya or we might be fighting for the wrong side. If Bahrain would have replace their government with an Iranian influenced (or worse, Iranian controlled) government then perhaps it's best that the protestors only have limited success. That said there is NO excuse for shooting your own people and I hope the King exercises reforms.

The guy is scared -blam!- less. The bastard should let those people go and stand by what he has done.

Syrian Protests

At least four people were killed by security forces near Al-Omari mosque in Daraa, including a doctor and a paramedic. - Bloomberg news

Electricity had been cut off before the attack and mobile phone network appeared to be disrupted in the city. Security forces were also preventing ambulances from entering the city centre, where the mosque is located. Demonstrations were under way in Aleppo as well, in support of protesters in Daraa. - Al Jazeera English
You know I'm beginning to wonder if we should add Syria to the OP as well. i'll be the seconder of this movement. need a third person to request it and i'll put it up.

I request it. Syria's liberation would be one of the most important.

I think Gaddafi is actually going to win. The rebels are untrained and ill equipped to fight gaddafis mercenaries. Actually the whole situation is most likely to end in a stalemate

The coalition is doing as much as it possibly can to hinder Gaddafi's forces, and I find it hard to believe the rebel forces would stop for anything short of Gaddafi getting the hell out.

This of the no fly zone as an investment. The coalition has invested too much money and political credibility to let this fail.

indeed, the rebels have successfully captured tanks with hunting knives before(a report out of Benghazi said that Tank crews were found dead with only stab wounds.)

they also have successfully pushed back a tank battalion in Ajdabiya.

I wouldn't underestimate the power of an army pushed by the promise of freedom.

by a long shot. Apparently the entire male adult population of Benghazi has joined the rebellion, a total of 400,000 people, just out of Benghazi

NOT IN OP

The Muslim Brotherhood(a peaceful social movement), has thrown it's full support behind Democratic reforms in the Arab world. They even have made a point of saying that the Sharia should not be the defacto constitution of Islamic countries. Rather that constitutions should be written in the way of western nations, written by the people for individual countries. They have called for other countries to push for democracy.

Don't forget the extent of the 'no fly zone', which seems to essentially be a license to air-strike.

Actually the UN resolution 1973 stated 'to protect Libyan civilians by all means necessary, including the imposition of a No-fly Zone'

The air strikes are not part of the no-fly zone, but are rather another move to enforce the UN resolution.

Think of it as us as the person breaking up a fist fight without throwing punches, but rather by using physical force to pull back the aggressor in the fight. If we need to break the arm that is ok, as long as we don't punch them.
